Though I'm not accounting for Ellen's overall popularity which is probably a mistake

chuckles has another hit with Conjuring 2. He looks to be on pace for $1.1 billion, which is also where pwns is headed.

Tons of people are still in the hunt, but those are the two frontrunners right now.

Is it looking like anyone will have 3 or more caps?

chuckles will probably be the only one with 2

thingy may join him if independence day 2 breaks out

it's looking like my first three picks combined will make less than 200 million

I'd give myself a 10-25% chance that both Dr. Strange and Star Trek Cap.

The two of them make 500M together probably 85% of the time

Star trek will do about 200. Less than 5% to cap

200 is the high side I'd say

Will give you 15-1 odds on $650m

Would also give you 1.5-1 odds on $500m

you'd actually want to make a monetary bet?

I'm gonna hit 900M with my 3 top movies; not sure if they'll all 3 cap, or 2 of them cap, but 900 is good enough for 3 movies

Might take $20 or so. Have to figure out how confident I am that Strange will cap. I remember calling GOTG 2 years ahead of time, but it's worrying me that even it only barely capped

The Birth of a Nation

I think that's it for replacements picks.

hard to tell if it will have mass appeal

In our universe, apparently

ID should be huge but it doesn't have Will Smith and is competing with a million other 200M+ movies so IF it's a badly done cash grab then after the huge opening weekend it'll drop off quickly and end up in 200M range

I think that's unlikely so I think ID caps, but it's more likely to be sub 275 than a movie from a studio that doesn't put out sub-250 movies (excepting lolCars 2)

Early reviews showing it's a "poorly done crash grab"

Didn't even do advanced showings so critics had to watch it last night when it opened

Projected for a ~50m opening weekend is what I read, not the stuff caps are made of.
