So, not entirely sure what to call this, but let's go with Beer Walrus.

In essence IBD ran a Turbo Peehs with question 1 being to name a "A top 100 beer according to Beer Advocate" and that triggered this idea.

Pre 2014 my beer palate was pretty basic (lager) with little knowledge about any others. Cut to now, 4 years into living in California, and lager bores me. Love my craft beers, especially Saison, and Sours.

So the game:
Tell me a beer that meets each of the categories below. I will then purchase each beer (please make sure it isn't impossible to order online), taste and share my verdict with a rating out of 10 for each.

The Categories:
Sour
Saison
Stout
IPA
Free Choice (any beer type, can be a repeat)

I look forward to tasting all your lovely suggestions. Reveal will happen on a weekly basis with first tastings the weekend of March 24th.

Deadline for Entries - March 21st!

It's pretty hilarious that this is not the 1st POG Beer Walrus...

What's the best way to ensure this?

Ideally available on Craftshack or similar

had a quick glance at my favourites and it seems like you can't get them easily at all in the US

probably means that I'm not likely to in

Don't rule yourself out though Xander. As a Londoner I've managed to attach myself to a lot of Brits in Los Angeles and we find ways of getting our home comforts.

want to in but, similar to xander, most of what I drink is probably very hard to get in the states

had a lot of difficulty tracking down a lot of the beers people submitted to my walrus

will try and pull something together though

after doing fnords walrus obv

I thought I did something like this too one time, but couldn't find half the beers people recommended. Maybe it was just one category in one with a bunch of disparate categories. (I didn't have this has to be obtainable in the states rule)

Would be in but never drunk the first two categories and never intend on doing so

2 Entries in so far, with 4/5 of rtspurs selections currently being delivered.
FYI Craftshack, Drizly and bevmo have quite a few options there

Found 4/5 of mine on Drizly. Maybe I'll have to rethink my IPA recommendation, or ship you a bottle if it's in my local beer store.

This is ongoing and I am leaving it open.

First persons drinks (Rtspurs) 3/5 have been consumed with the next 2 over the next 2 days.

Question:
Would you like me to do the reveal after completing each persons beverages (i.e. 1 at a time), or save my verdicts until I've drank all entries?

I assumed you were going to do the styles side by side.

Sour night, ipa night, etc.

I was but only have 4 entrants thus far and waiting on shipments of the beers, didn't like leaving anyone in limbo but happily will do that

No rush, whatever works.

Cool beans.
Worth mentioning a lot of the beers are sold in 6packs so I am all game for doing a night on each type.
I’ll do them all as taster flights to treat myself.

May even get Mrs Eleanor to join in and have her scores too

I find that most good beers really develop over several pours.

I’ve been consuming these all over the last few weeks. Have three left before reveal comes through

Self bump.
Real life came up and I am currently moving from Los Angeles back to London. The remaining beers have been ordered to my London house, as have some of the earlier beers from the rounds already tasted to do a new tasting (and partially because I am yet to have one I didn’t like)

Aiming to complete first weekend of August. Again apologies for the delay.
