yeah I could see Cape Town potentially being worth longer, I went there a a student with little disposable income so maybe it's one that'd be better if I went back

Tried to snag Melbourne in this draft but ended up having other priorities and then just missed it longitudinally

That was you? In here? I had no clue why I was reading about India today & what it had to do with Cape Town & my intended next destination.
I'm awfully tired...why?

Because 2nd children make your life about 7x harder, even if they're objectively much easier & more laid back than your 1st child.
Although the main issue right now is that he's waiting on surgery to get tubes in his ears so he wakes me up 5+ times a night.
But yeah, congrats...it is pretty awesome seeing them together & how sweet they are with each other, no matter how exhausting it is.

Served. I hope this teaches you to never ever badmouth one of my picks again. J/k I'm always down for some constructive criticism.

Re: Around the world vacation -- Game thread
To finish up my writeups left to do: Mumbai
Another city with a rich history that I just couldn't skip over. I'll be seeing:
The Gateway of India:
The imposing Haji Ali mosque/tomb:
The Elephanta Caves:
The hustle and bustle of the many open-air markets:
And, of course, Bollywood!:
All this city travel is going to make me tired. I think I'll take it easy next week.

It's impossible for filthy to take my pick, so I'm considering just announcing it before I feel totally useless tonight

That's only in the bears - you need to pay 50$ and your first born to get a beer in a supermarket.

write up also will happen later

Re: Around the world vacation -- Game thread
I may need a ruling on this one...flying to Windhoek, Namibia (17.0658 E) to start a seven-day safari around Namibia.

Windhoek is my other 2nd or 3rd favorite African capital city name.
I'm up? I haven't even done a write-up or much thinking.

I don't see anything wrong with that, so long as you keep it within the confines of what is possible in a week.

Yeah, you're up.
And Antananarivo > Windhoek (speaking only about city name here). Obviously [REDACTED] is #1. Don't think it'll get drafted. Well, xander might snag it.

Re: Around the world vacation -- Game thread
I just have a history with Windhoek going back to 7th grade, but I agree that in a vacuum Antananarivo is better.

Re: Around the world vacation -- Game thread
Namibia is an awesome choice that was high on my list
at the end of this, is someone going to put together a map showing each of our journeys, side by side? like, the blue line follows where i went, and the green line follows where xander went...

Re: Around the world vacation -- Game thread
So there are a few locations that tempted me slightly west of here, & they'll likely be gone by my next pick, but if not, it's a nice bonus.
I decided I couldn't turn down this pretty cool combo of...
History:
Natural scenery:
Dining:
Scenic views:
Beaches:
& sunsets:
JM3 Trip so Far:

Re: Around the world vacation -- Game thread
Kind of like an 8 person version of this?
Seems doable, but a PITA...
Also, the lines should be going to the points, but this was just a sloppy quick example.
The problem is going to be when it gets to places like Europe where all the lines are going to be heavily concentrated & the scaling is going to be tough...
But if just trying to get a general picture of the route, can remove the pins & it shouldn't be bad...
