Loop 1, Round 2, Pick 1

I was gonna go in a different direction with this, and then I didn't. Got to stay ahead of the weather.

(I also came pretty close to picking [UNDRAFTED CITY THAT I THOUGHT WAS A NO-BRAINER] in the first round, and less so in this round, because I was just there and all, but man...it would be an elite pick for someone.)

Anyway!

I've never been here, but I heard it's magical, and I'm in love with its even more sparsely populated Scandinavian equivalent. Plus, more wine!





This will be an outdoorsy portion of my trip.

OK so Los Angeles. The way I see it, this is basically a "see everything there is to see in the world" draft and LA no doubt is one of the worlds most influential cities.

For my trip LA will serve the purpose of seeing the American entertainment industry in all its glory and the flash that comes with it. Tourist of all tourist. I won't be going for culture here, there will be ample opportunities for that later, this week is all about living the high life.

Things to do:
decompress at beaches after a week in Vegas
Universal Studios
go see a game show
stalk celebrities
cruise Beverly Hills and Santa Monica
see world class comedy
eat at excellent restaurants
rent a mansion in the hills
rent a beach house
shopping
oh yeah the women aren't bad if you are into that sort of thing

Also it is not west much at all from Vegas which sets me up with some options if I decide to pursue them

Oh, son of a bitch, was totally going New Zealand.

Now, wait...surely one can't take ALL of New Zealand, right? One island or the other, sure, but the whole country isn't exactly a tiny bit of land.

New Zealand is the same size as California, & 3 people drafted things in Southern California alone within like a 220 mile area, so it seems a bit aggressive, but it's hard to know where to draw lines on these things.

If I understand the rules right someone can just draft a part of New Zealand now and Gad is then stuck with the rest of it or has the option to draft something else once everyone else has passed New Zealand on their travels.

Addendum: Obviously, a pick like "the whole world" or "Europe" is stupid and won't be allowed. (and don't do anything dumb like try to claim the moon or some ****). New Zealand is a perfectly reasonable pick, but it clearly runs the risk outlined above.

Thanks for the clarification, I'd read that rule but couldn't quite wrap my head around how it would work in practice.

Leg 1: VANCOUVER/LOWER MAINLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA 123.1207° W

Leg 2: CHRISTCHURCH/SOUTH ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND 172.6362° E

Gadarene's coordinates put him squarely on North Island, so I wanted to at least respect that. Writeup to follow.

Yeah, that totally didn't just ruin my next pick or anything......

I mean I interpreted it as being you could take a city in a region, not a full half of the region, but whatever.

Obviously all of the good things are in South Island, so that does disgruntle me a fair amount because it seems like you're just being a ****.

If someone had said "hey, Gad, you can't take all of New Zealand," then I would have said "okay, just South Island then"

Especially because most of my pictures were from South Island

So I'm fairly annoyed now

It doesn't seem like it was done maliciously.

I think it would be fair to give TN North and Gad South because of the confusion of the first time this has happened. (if that's what TN wants)

I'm conflicted...had no intention of taking this place & is not my sort of place, but it seems like good value...plus my list of the order of the actual places I want to go is at my office & I won't be there for 2 hours & don't want to slow up the draft...

I thought True North picked just Christchurch? Not the whole South Island?

I don't think it was malicious but it was obviously done knowing that the South Island has the vast majority of the reasons to visit the country.

And his reasoning is specious because when you google New Zealand lat and long, that's what you get
