Duckburg was not picked-up, he was Transformers (a VILLAGER). He was a huge loss for the exec's, with the movie tie-in and new line of toys coming out everyone was looking to advertise. Standing by with millions in hand to place their commercials was a revival of the retro Colgate Pump commercial. Colgate walked out the door and headed over to Nickelodeon execs.

YouKnowWho was Alvin & The Chipmunks, a VILLAGER. On NBC in the earliest time slot in the Fall of 1979, they didn't do so well and were pulled from the lineup. They did manage to return to the lineup in fall of 1983 and stick around this time in a slightly later time slot. Alvin, Simon and Theodore have won the heart's of many and have had several full length animated features and a recently released major motion picture has brought them across the paths of NBC execs once again. Some sneaky manipulation of the contract had the execs thinking they were absolutely greedy with their success, when all they really wanted to do was sing "Witch Doctor" on Saturday morning. The exec's turned them down and Hi-C took their advertising dollars to the Cartoon Network. (Look, look, Alyssa Milano in the Hi-C commercial!)
