A librarian dealt me 1 ounce of novels last Saturday, had a sick weekend.

Chicago is the "Windy" city, but draft is a stretch on wind.. Good to keep in mind though...

Only other idea I had on dealt was "air", as in got dealt air....

I was thinking more along the lines of the NFL draft. I thought maybe it is held in Chicago, but I have no idea. Or players drafted for Chicago teams or something. I dunno, just throwing it out there.

can be the possible candidates? On 2nd thought if it's plot/novel combination I'd never go for adapted here?

I'd erase the mass thought and go for
limousine or plot.

My thoughts (In order of preference):

Limousine > A limo is like a car but adapted? I'm not really sure what it's adapted to, but it sure is a hard word to link to novel so could be it.

Draft > If the remaining words are draft and novel, its hard to link these without also bringing in "plot". A draft is something you adapt? I think there are better words to link novel and draft, so I'm not sold.

Plot > Obvious connection to adapted, but I think he goes with "story" or something simpler if its this, so happy to rule this out.

Mass > Something can be adapted by the masses, maybe?

Air > We are adapted to breathe air?

Shadow > Is a shadow author like a ghostwriter or am I making that up??

Mass: Can be adapted for some technical reasons I guess, what words would come in mind with mass/novel being left?

had no idea how to finish in 4 without some luck. then i saw a somewhat likelier path after it was too late. baseball to try and get draft/card, then Gotham for skyscraper/tokyo/shadow. not sure it would have worked tho

sorry about the dealt clue. it was for shadow as they're sort of dealt out by the sun, etc. i thought using a little more obscure word would get you off the poker connections. there were better words out there to connect, like trick, but every one i could think of would possibly get plot first, which was the assassin

oh well

and yeah nice last clue xander. i thought you'd go "lengthy" or something and possibly get shadow for me
