Okay, so Aida is an opera? I guess I was kinda close then. Would've been a bit hard for me to figure that out without opera being on the board tho.

So am I the only person that didn't know what that was, or is it pretty much like The Departed of operas?

I didn't know, but Opera would be about the worst category in the world for me.

Cats, Phantom of the Opera and a couple of others and then I am on empty....

Ok, I feel better about it now.

Me and eric are just worlds apart in our arts/entertainment knowledge it seems.

Sounds like an opera or musical. I probably would have gone down the conductor route, but no clue the subject.

By coincidence, I am visiting my mom, and she just went to a local staging of Aida the musical, so my (very recent) familiarity with it is as a play, not an opera. As a guesser, I would jumped all over part and play (along with conductor and princess), which would not have been good.

I also would have guessed bell for jar (Bell is a brand of glass jar). Also not good.

You did great, I screwed the pooch with the last turn because I was distracted. Should’ve gone unlimited and didn’t even realize what I’d done until you passed.

Ball is the brand, The Bell Jar is a novel by Sylvia Plath.

I'll explain things later, but my last clue would have been Planets - 4. How would that have fared?

I'm not an opera guy, but I know Aida is an opera about a princess, so I took a chance that others might also. Sorry, partner.

Right you are. I still would have guessed it.

Well, I would've got night and satellite for sure, then I'd be a bit confused. I think I get there by piecing together that Aida is an opera form the few remaining options, but I don't see the connection to planets. Although, it is capitalised, so maybe another opera I've never heard of?

Also, nothing to be sorry about. Proper nouns are tricky, because they are often the "best clues" to connect certain words, but they also rely on your partner understanding the reference. Most of the time you have no idea if it's going to land or not, but it's still worth taking the punt.

When I first saw the list I noticed organ, night, and conductor and thought of Phantom of the Opera. I saw the two sets of two. And I had princess and satellite that I couldn't do anything with.

Trying to find a way to reduce the number of rounds, I figured I might tie princess to the opera theme and Aida came to mind. I hoped you knew it or would guess it was an opera. It was a risk, but I was hard-pressed to do this in fewer than 5 rounds. Maybe simply opera would have been a better clue and I just over thought things.

Tick and disease were made for each other, and jam and seal looked solid.

That left trying to get satellite and the rest of the words from the first clue. I was really stuck. Then I remembered the music of the spheres. Not actual music, and I had no way to clue it, anyway. But I knew there was a collection of music with a similar theme. It took a while to remember what it was. The Planets by Gustav Holst. I know it would be a longshot, but it connects satellite, night, and music terms. However, it became moot.

Actually, I don't think I could have clued these words in three rounds, so even if opera was a better clue, we still lose.
