anyway

"consciously keeping your same town playstyle when you're mafia is one of the biggest challenges of the game" is an unnecessarily general statement

we're talking specifically about pushing easy wagons, and you agree that it's something mafia are more likely to do, so why does the fact that you think slendy does it as town make it unlikely that slendy would do it as mafia? like i'm not sure how that can be an actual thought process

also, given that this is the champions game, wouldn't it be the more natural assumption to think that slendy is a "good player"

my second paragraph was in response to you thinking slendy wouldn't do it as town despite you thinking mafia are more likely to do it, your response is kind of unrelated and why i think you're responding for the purpose of responding and not for actual discussion
i'm not sure if i worded this well

to reexplain, this is what dorian's thought progression has been afaict:

> he thinks mafia are more likely to push easy wagons (i agree)
> he thinks slendy pushed easy wagons last game as town (i disagree, but it's w/e)

-> he thinks slendy is town this game for pushing easy wagons again
-> he doesn't think slendy is mafia pushing easy wagons because he thinks it's difficult for mafia to replicate their town game

that justification makes literally no sense to me

Quoting to show that I would like a more detailed explanation from dorian as well.

Same bio he did say he was going with his gut so that's probably pointless.

To further elaborate a little on this, I get why slendy didn't want to give me the reason. He thinks that telling me whatever I was doing that he thought was scummy would immediately make me stop doing it, and he wants to see if I'll keep doing it. I'd typically just wait to see if they kept doing it without putting the vote out there, but I suppose he thinks the vote is pressure to keep me posting.

Either way, the only thing I can do at the moment is wait until he decides to elaborate, cause he's given me nothing to address.

You're trying to draw me to the conclusion that everyone here is good enough that their mafia play will be absolutely indistinguishable from their town play. Is that an accurate summary, and do you agree with that conclusion?

AFK for work for a short while.

i think there are two separate ideas here

1) you think mafia are more likely to push easy wagons
2) you think mafia have difficulty replicating their town play

my problem is that you think slendy is town because of 2) while completely ignoring 1)

I'll post some gifs eventually. I'll laugh at some of you unrelated to the game mechanics. But those are 1) necessarily outlets and 2) telling more of a person's personality to see them relax a bit when its tense, or if they never take their eye off the prize. It's fluff disguised as fluff that I don't like. And I posted this all so early because you all need to know who I am since I'm one of the new outsiders. That much personality freely volunteered? Not fluff. But vote as you wish, it's the nature of the game to jump on feels.
I'm just really confused as to why you think it's important we understand your personality to better interpret your posts. Isn't it better when someone misinterprets what you're saying so you can get a read on their intent? Otherwise it just comes off as you being defensive, and since we all know slendy is the cop, that means the only reason to put this out as a defense is because you're mafia. (Which I obviously already knew, friend.)

My name is Chris and I am 27 years old and I am from Florida. I have been playing mafia in one form or another for over a decade now, starting with old IRC games way back in the day. Since then I graduated to IM games which were incredibly fast paced and relied more on charisma and being very bold than skill a lot of the time. I suppose that's a skill onto itself, however. My first experience with board mafia came in 2008 and I haven't looked back since. I have hundreds of games under my belt since that time and have played in communities where the pace is very slow (days lasting weeks at a time) although my usual expertise is days which last 48 hours, which fits the mold of this game much more. I pride myself on being a balanced player who is capable as both scum and town, and eagerly seek to play with people who have a high skill level. Mostly though I just play for fun, it just so happens the most fun that can be found in mafia is trying to outwit intelligent people as best that I can as either alignment.

__________________________________________
Thoughts before I do call it a day and get my sleep in. (nice thing about long day rounds, I can actually sleep and work and not worry about missing most of the round).

I went through trying to see if anyone gave away too much in their profile. Not really. Personally it feels like only achromatic, myself, and dorian really said much of anything actually of worth for me trying to learn if theyre being different. But I want to sort of point out that as much as it kills me to say this, looks like achromatic is playing according to his usual if his self description is right. Sort of takes away the joy of going after the person questioning your play the most.

Well I'll see you all in a handful of hours, probably more active in the middle of the (EST) night.

I haven't yet begun to properly feast on the souls of the damned though! We're just getting started.

I am so hoping to have a repeat of the first game where I get to vaporize scum =)

I find it extremely unlikely scum rolls up into the game and is all like "Man, this guy stole my points. Let me pout about it."

That'd be absurdly strong scum game right there tbh.

Why does a town sounding post=town to you? Unless Villalist is like.... villain and list together. In which case I'd probably agree. Then again, I don't really understand Dorian's play or thoughts on good play. I tend to make my mafia play incredibly different from my town play so that it's obvious and when I flip my reads are useless. And then Dorian mentioned someone viewed him as town so the most logical response would be to view that person as town, too? This early? I find people on completely different wavelengths than me tend to be town, especially early on when mafia can slip left and right with no one picking it up until late game.

So: road

I don't play mafia games for skill or serious business. I treat them seriously, but I always play for entertaining myself first and foremost and to distract me from life as I overanalyze everything and mafia is a good outlet for that haha. But okay, I'm town. :P

So, y'all. On a scale of 1-10, how okay are you with dying so others have information?

Some people are more self-pres than others, so if it ever came down to an either/or, we should go with whoever is more willing to die.

Ugh, you're totalllllly the guardian from the story. Man, we all gotta die and then be like flowers or some ****, okay? Like flowers with a conscience that are screaming in their mute voice "I was once like you, now I am just death. You laugh at those teenage girls with cameras taking pictures of flowers they claim as art, but it's because they sense themselves in me as you will one day, too. Acknowledge me. Acknowledge me while you can. Take a picture and frame it. I will guide you through the darkness."

But then they wilt and die and are gone forever. They, the us. We, who are them, who is you. Okay? But I won't vote to kill you if you're truly scare.
