Kinda feel like I have some decent reads. I know the competition is better than last game most likely.

villagers
TehBankertin
Archomatic
cue5c
bhuber
fonti

wolves
MSU
road (I agree with cue's read to an extent. I think road seems different but I was very wrong on him last game so I'm hesitant to push this read)

Everyone else I don't want to give a read on.

Mind sharing your reasoning on those (that you haven't already covered in any particular degree of depth)?

For now - DocEspana

I get what he is saying with the culture clash, and I agree to a point about his opinion on claiming town being quite pointless. But I really don't like how he looked to a bio to get a read substantiated or whatever his actual purpose was there. That comes across as pretty complacent to me, like he's just looking for an excuse to justify his point.

Riki I believe it was later pointed out that it will often be town play listed there, but I don't agree on that. Playstyle tends to be the same regaardless - whether you play with a logical, debate-style approach, or with your gut, it is generally the same regardless of role. The nuances come in the way you act and the type of posting pattern you are likely to follow, in my experience, which are unlikely to be listen on bios.

Point 1 is a generality to use when unfamiliar with someone. Experience with a person's playstyle (which I've already said that I know one game isn't much, but all I have to work with), trumps generalities like that.

For example, we have a couple of players on our site that say and do the dumbest, scummiest stuff all the time. They used to get lynched for it all the time. They were inevitably not mafia. So now when they do that stuff that most of us think is scummy, most of us know that it's a sign that they're more likely innocent, because their playstyle trumps the generality.

It's why a game like this is so tough: most of us have little to no experience with each others' playstyles.
imo both points were pretty general statements

like, you can say that someone is playing similar to how they played as town, but that's a pretty surface level observation

it kind of ties into my response to your next paragraph

i don't think that people are good enough to make their scum play indistinguishable from their town play. but i also don't think that people can or will play completely identically from game to game as town either

which is why i disliked the justification you used, it seems kind of arbitrary to conclude that he is "town pushing easy wagons again" a >rand amount of the time here rather than "mafia pushing easy wagons to appear similar to his town game" without giving any further analysis (not that you could really give much more analysis on it, but that's also kind of part of my point)

It was not my intent to appear active. I had other goals and theories I wanted to test out.

Archomatic seems to be game solving and confident in himself. I feel like this is a mirror of his town game from game 2. I know he was confident and wanted to be here I was surprised by his entrance but I believe he was sincere in beating children at putt putt and has sense impressed me.

I see riki as asking good questions to people and trying to delve into the meanings behind the posts. Also this is my n0 peek.

Cue5s carefree attitude is a very confident scum player or more likely a cocky town as I think is more often than not common in these champs game they bring the strong town and the occasional scary scum.

Bhuber and me have lined up on a lot of reads thus far I'm slightly worried he is buddying me but I hadn't mentioned my MSU suspicion before he made the most I base this solely off the t-swift thing.

Fonti I think is wrong on a couple of things but I feel like she is actively hunting for scum, she wants to get a lynch on someone she is ready to fight and battle for it. I think if she is scum it will be apparent who she is fighting for. From my video mafia experience she is play a LOT like her town game but it is different from her town game on forum so I'm most hesitant about this read.

MSU is giving softball reads and essentially just checking in posts. It seems like he wants to be noted but not noticed. This is a huge scum tell imo. Someone who wants to just slip through the cracks and make it through the day. His concern doesn't seem to be finding a lynch.

I put road on the scum list because I liked cue's point on him. I also had noticed he was ready to buddy with me at a point I felt he probably hadn't progressed to yet. I was most hesitant about this scum read than any of my other reads.

idk

i mostly tried to describe how i play as town in my bio (well not this bio lol, my game 4 bio), and i thought it would be the same for most people

and the thing is

i thought the part of dorian's bio that i pointed out contradicted the thought process that he was giving itt

so according to you it'd be going against how he plays as either alignment

in that case, is it more likely that he's playing town differently from how he normally plays, or just attempting to replicate his town game and not doing a good job of it?

he did say that he would also be relying on his gut more itg, which achro also pointed out, which is why i didn't make a big deal out of it, but yeah

what point do you think he was trying to justify?

like, afaict all he said was that achro was playing similarly to how he said he would in his bio

so he's basically giving a null to town read on achro

doesn't really feel like something he'd need to look for a weird way to justify

it also wasn't exactly something being discussed at the time, and he himself hadn't posted in like an hour, so "looking for an excuse to justify his point" seems like a weird way to word what his post was

i just read it as a throwaway read that wasn't even against what was probably thread consensus at the time

agree with achro and bhuber

idk what level of strength red is supposed to convey, i would be ok with lynching msu atm but i wouldn't be that confident about it

less sure about your other reads

no one replied to his msu mq either, except for msu

red is strongest read magenta is meh and the greens are all in there confidently.

Can you talk to me about why you disagree on fonti/cue being town?

dorian made one observation about cue that i liked

he's asking a lot of questions and i'm not entirely sure what the purpose of a bunch of those questions are

he also has a lot of posts yet i'm not very sure what most of his reads are, which usually isn't a great sign

for example, his vote on you above came out of left field for me, like i had no idea that was a read that he had up until when he voted you

i lean town on fonti but it's a weaker lean, i disliked some of her posts wrt slendy early on but i've liked her posts wrt cue

To me, the bio was just a brief introduction describing the approach to Mafia.

I think that would go without saying though. Everyone, particularly those not used to these levels of activity and not familiar with anyone else, is going to have to change their standard play.

I think he's attempting to replicate his town meta, but that, in this context, doesn't make him scum. I suppose if I had to pick where I lean there, I'd say he was town trying hard to appear as town, and I acknowledge that replicating meta is something you would find scum doing as opposed to town.

I don't agree. I'd say scum have to work hard to justify any sort of town reads, as giving easy ones away is scummy, and giving none is also scummy. It's not natural to them. Which is why I believe that scum go to these lengths to justify their reads, hence my vote.

And what does town trying to replicate town play usually imply? Pointing it out and making it obvious when mafia don't have day chat makes this really suspicious to me.

I have an idea where hes going but not 100% on me. I'm more interested in his flowers than his vote on me.

I'm like the opposite on fonti liked her slendy stuff and didn't like the cue stuff.
