Note that the spectator chat will NOT be spoiled.

RULES
  • Only post / talk about the game in this thread. Don't PM other players. Don't post anything about the game in other threads or on other forums. Except for the mafia team. The mafia team can communicate with each other privately during the night phase and only the night phase.
  • Don't edit your posts. The idea is everybody gets to see the same information in the thread. You are allowed to link to images, videos, etc., but don't change them. Again, everybody gets the same information in the thread.
  • Don't try to use the form of your role PM. So a screenshot of your role PM would be cheating. As would discussing the time stamp of your PM.
  • When the thread is open and the moderator has announced DAY you can post in it. But only as long as you are a live player. No dead posts, please.
  • Vote by bolding a name. I repeat: You vote by simply bolding a player's name - no need for "Vote: X" or anything like that. To change votes just bold a different name, or unvote. Vote counts will show how much time remains in the day. Votes in the final minute (:00) of day will count. :01 votes won't be counted.
  • Breadcrumbing is allowed. Unbreakable codes or code links + private keys or any stuff resembling that is NOT allowed. So as an example, this is disallowed.
  • This is a game of lying. Players are expected to lie. No statement or promise a player makes within the game has any force outside the game. As an example, a bet offered in a game is not something you can collect if you win.
  • If we believe you to be intentionally angleshooting (bending the rules intentionally in a way that clearly goes against the spirit of the rule and the game), then that would also be grounds for modkill. Do not try to get fancy or angly with the rules, please.
  • If you have any questions about rules, send a PM to this account. I'd be happy to help. You should not be asking the mod questions in the thread and neither should you ever refer to private communications with the mod.
  • No hydra'ing / multi-accounting is allowed. Do not share your account with anyone else.
And for completeness' sake, here is once again a link to the standard game rules for this forum.

Lynch rules
  • There is no majority lynch in this game except for at lylo (called must lynch on this site) for the sake of being able to keep the same schedule throughout the game. Whoever has the most votes at deadline will be lynched. Tie votes are explained below.
  • At lylo these rules will be in effect: Votes will be LOCKED IN. There will be no unvoting or vote changing, so make sure to vote wisely! Day ends immediately once majority is reached - do not post once this happens even if the mod isn't around to call it.
  • No lynch is allowed.
Tie votes

In the event of a tie vote, there will be a sort of "coin flip" to determine the outcome. Specifically, post ID will be the determining factor (which guarantees a fair "flip"). Click here for an in depth explanation.

TIPS TO MAKE THE FORUM EASIER TO USE

{Makaze} has created an incredible extension for the twoplustwo search function. It will expand search results to show the entire post, rather than snippets of each post.

You want this a lot.

See below for links and installation for Chrome (use Tampermonkey) and Firefox (use Greasemonkey).

From the forum page, click the number next to the thread title (488 here). This brings up a window called "Who Posted". From there click the number next to a poster to see their posts in the search page.

OR From within the thread, click search this thread at the top, then advanced search.

This brings up a window where you can enter a poster name and / or keywords.

Here is a sample search result. Click the title within a post to go to that post.

Use my twoplustwo / Edit Options to change the look & feel of the forum.

There you may want to make yourself invisible. This means your name doesn't appear at the bottom of the forum page while you are reading. Almost all the regular players here use invisible.

Change your posts/page from the default 15 to a number that suits you.

Tell the forum your timezone.

Maybe try different colors.

Don't forget to click Save Changes.

---

You can use tapatalk. And there is also a twoplustwo app for phones that is like tapatalk.

---

Also note that each vote count has more info than just votes:
  • The number in (99) is how many times that player has posted.
  • You can click the names to go to the post with the vote.
  • It shows you how much time remains in the day.
---

Finally, for spectators from other forums... We suggest that you register an account so you can set posts per page, colors / timezone, and use the phone app. It makes for much easier reading.

My name is Chris and I am 27 years old and I am from Florida. I have been playing mafia in one form or another for over a decade now, starting with old IRC games way back in the day. Since then I graduated to IM games which were incredibly fast paced and relied more on charisma and being very bold than skill a lot of the time. I suppose that's a skill onto itself, however. My first experience with board mafia came in 2008 and I haven't looked back since. I have hundreds of games under my belt since that time and have played in communities where the pace is very slow (days lasting weeks at a time) although my usual expertise is days which last 48 hours, which fits the mold of this game much more. I pride myself on being a balanced player who is capable as both scum and town, and eagerly seek to play with people who have a high skill level. Mostly though I just play for fun, it just so happens the most fun that can be found in mafia is trying to outwit intelligent people as best that I can as either alignment.

Bio:
I began playing Mafia in 2006 during my second semester in college. Initially as just a time waster with friends, it soon became an addiction when a Mafia facebook game popped up. By the time I left undergrad and went to medical school I was coming up with increasingly ornate ways to make the game more mentally challenging over an intranet system my friends had made to host games after graduation. Flash forward to 2010, when I discover that a forum I occasionally visit, SDN, is actually hosting a very active community of people playing this game with equally elaborate roles and rules. The addiction had found its outlet and I’ve been hard pressed to stop playing since.

I personally believe I am an extremely observant player. I do best in games with overaching themes or complex roles because I try to make sense of all the subtle rules and balancing quirks to “see the game within the game” and use that to parse the lies out of people’s stories. I may be at a disadvantage in the extremely straightforward format. But since this is a game about lying, I might be lying about how I play or my weaknesses, so I decided to let some of the players who love/hate me the most write their thoughts on me. Maybe that will be more telling.

From a player who will nearly always lynch me on sight: “DocEspana, in between loving puppies (but not wolf pups) and kittens, is a laid back player. Don't let that fool you. He is thoroughly analytical until he gets caught up on a singular detail and throws his logic out in a fit of passion.”

From a player who I have repeatedly stabbed in the back: “DocEspana is the guy you want in your secret circle. He is the ultimate balls to the wall player that throws caution to the wind and plays with reckless abandon. You can never fully trust him, but living on the edge is addictive to those who hitch a ride. He is crafty in baiting people to say something to give them away. He is the ultimate storyteller when it comes time for him to side-step the questions directed at him. DocE is the tits at storytelling. One never knows for certain what is pulled from his ass and what is bathed in truth. He is a master record keeper of every word spoken and the decipherer of the possibly hidden meanings from seemingly innocuous utterings. I do not trust him any further than I can move a mountain, but will pick him as a partner over anyone anytime. The game is never a game unless DocEspana has penned in his name.”

From the player who knows all of my best moves: “Are we supposed to be truthful, or is lying to the other people part of the strategy? ” (He understands me so well)

A player who probably holds a grudge, and it may be fully justified: “Megalomaniac schemer, who loves to throw numbers out to support his case, but honestly, I am not sure he passed middle school math. Statistically, he must be a wolf sometime, but he never, ever is. Can never trust a word he says, he lies more as a villager than anyone I have seen; but he is the best to partner with to bring home a villager victory. Seems oddly enamored with his phallus, which probably indicates.... I digress, I digress.... but really, he is impressed with it.”

dorian78, or just dorian, is honored to be representing the Forums of Loathing, the forums for a browser-based, stick-figure, parody RPG/quasi-MMO called Kingdom of Loathing - www.kingdomofloathing.com (shameless plug!)

I’ve played in almost 120 games and GM’ed 8 games, though I’ve only played about 7 in the past year. None of those were as mafia. My scum-game is probably a little rusty.

As mafia, I’m typically known for my ballsy moves. Mafia moves I’ve made in the past include reviving dead innocents, placing the nightkill on a teammate that we were also doctoring, and publicly daykilling one of my own teammates (hoot: powerturtle!). Obviously none of that will be possible in a vanilla game, which makes me a sad panda.

As town, I’m almost never mislynched and usually am a mid-game nightkill for being a generally strong player that will usually solve the game if left alive until the end. I imagine I’ll be a lot less good at solving an almost-vanilla game, though.

I’m typically a very methodical, analytical player, always considering all the possibilities and how likely they are. That said, logic and analysis can only go so far, especially in a vanilla game, before it comes down to subjective interpretation. I have a feeling I’ll be relying on my gut feelings more than I want to in this game.

Outside of the interwebs, I’m a board/video game-loving musician in the Orlando area who has more of a sense of humor than my typical “mafia-is-srs-bzns” tone probably indicates. If, for whatever reason, you want more info on my mafia stats, just ask. I strongly suggest you check out post 1229 in the main Mafia Championship thread if you haven’t already for info about how different the style of mafia I'm used to is. Good luck to everyone!

I started playing mafia in mid-2012, and was promptly lynched Day 1 of my first game. Since then, I’ve played over 50 longer games and a couple hundred shorter one across six different sites, becoming a perennial Night 1 target on DLP in the process. I also play a fair amount of Resistance and Avalon with a games group, irl.

I tend to oscillate between periods of observation and periods of intense questioning. Reads wise, I work by a mixture of process of elimination, unaligned pairs and picking apart small details to form full-blown reads. Forming a comprehensive understanding of each player as an individual is of particular importance. Feels based reads are all well and good, but if I can’t understand why I'm reading someone a certain way, then I can’t learn from it and replicate it.

I believe in constant improvement, the value of logic above all else, and making the scumteam regret every Day they leave me alive.

Internet mafia was not much like the game I had grown up playing at swim meets. Although I had started playing prior to joining PTP in 2010, I was completely hooked from that day forward. The game was awesome, the people were awesome...it was a great time. While PTP has since come and gone, it goes without saying mafia became one of my favorite hobbies outside of poker at the time.

As an extremely competitive person, I was at first frustrated with the style of play that I observed when I joined 2+2 in 2011. I was unaccustomed to the banter/playful nature of many of the games and thought "WTF IS THIS" . Over time, I came to appreciate the gameplay and the general skill level of many of the players native to the forum. Soon 2+2 became my new mafia home.

Whilst I appreciate the ability to continue playing on 2+2 in my spare time, I would not be paying homage to the site where it all began (for me personally). I was able to achieve relative success by quickly learning that verbosity/activity/tone were a wolves friend.

I could care less about accolades and don't care to list any. My only expectation for mafia is that players are active if they sign up to play. After that, I am just here to have fun.

Hi,
My name is Mads and I’m 27 years old. I am proudly representing PokerNet - a Danish Community. I haven’t lost a game since 12/2013 (the total number of games since are not important) and am filled with confidence. I have an analysing style and enjoy combining whatever mechanical and nonmechanical data available to form reads and deduce the different roles. I mostly enjoy being a townie as finding a solution to the game is what motivates me the most.

Honored to have been chosen to play in this tournament. I am not that good of a player but since working in DC, I have learned it's not what you know, it's who you know, and apparently I impressed enough of my fellow Realmsers that they chose me as tribute.

Originally from a small island off the coast of Maine, I know work at a major non profit in international development. AKA, I am literally trying to save the world.

In all honesty, I hope no hard feelings after the game no matter how things turned out. Everything I will say, do, and feel is about a game. It's always just a game.

Bio:
Hi. Smartbomb/owned here. Huge lurker and reader. Started on Neoseeker, and have frequented greydogsoftware but left after the mafia section there died. Lurked MTGS and mafiascum.

My major accomplishment in mafia is that I killed eight players and survived to endgame as an Individual Survivor PGO (that is to kill everyone that targets me at night) while fullclaiming in the first post of the game. This has nothing to do with my mafia play, but I don't care. I think it's hilarious and I want to share it.

I'm a very cautious and anxious player, and if I'm not posting in great quantities it's because I'm rethinking everything I post. I've played MTG and Hearthstone and the first thing I've learnt from those games is that if you make even one mistake, even if it's not obvious to you and you don't consider a mistake, it could cost you the entire game. What I do also recognise is that sometimes the biggest mistake is not to play and in the end I'll just post thought dumps anyways, haha.

A quick rundown on my terminology: Scum is mafia, werewolves, or generally bad people. Apart from that I use standard mafia (not werewolf) terminology (town over villager, cop over seer). When I say you're wrong, it can refer to many different things - wrong about game theory, wrong about people you've voted for, wrong about your reads list. But it doesn't mean you're not town and that is what matters in the game. In addition if I do call you wrong that doesn't mean I'm trying to offend you, being wrong is a neutral state and if this is in reference to mafia theory maybe I'm wrong, who knows? Please understand. This is a game about finding the other team, not about proving yourself right and while the two are sometimes connected it isn't a hard rule one should follow.

Hey, my name's Ryan, and I'm (proud to be) representing the OnePieceBay Mafia Community. I started playing a couple of years ago, and in that time kind of just burst into Mafia, winning MVP in my first game and played a lot of games on quite the variety of sites, which helped me grow quite quickly as a player. As a result, after around 90 games played, I've had quite a fair bit of experience with alternative playstyles and approaches to the game of Mafia.

In regards to my own playstyle, I'm sort of known for my "logical" approach to the game. I tend to rely more on the analytical side of Mafia, and prefer to avoid playing with gut feelings and trying to discern tone from posts. That being said, I have on occasion played with both of those things entirely, so I'm not completely a one-trick pony. I also am known for large posts, so while I'll do my utmost best to keep them relatively short, you have been forewarned. I've also won quite a few MVP awards in my time (somewhere in the double-figures), although embarrassingly just the one on the site I'm representing, which I believe is my joint lowest on any site I've played more than 2 games on. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya.

Finally, as for myself personally, I'm a University student studying Computer Science. Hobbies include tennis, football (soccer), football (hand egg), anime and (some) games.

I think that pretty much covers everything I wanted to say, so just wanted to end by saying good luck to everyone playing the game, here's to a memorable one and may the odds be ever in your favour.

I’m one of the regulars of Vendetta Strada, a community that is almost solely dedicated to different kinds of Mafia-games. Despite having been “MIA” for a while, getting an invitation to the Championship game was an opportunity I didn’t want to miss.

I’m Finnish, which often times surprises the people I’m playing with since I tend to be online during hours that would usually be considered ‘American’, timezone-wise.

I started playing in December 2010, coincidentally in the very first game that was ever hosted on Vendetta Strada. I was a quick learner, particularly as a Villager, and have tried several different playing styles over the years. Regardless of the ‘mood’ I’m in and the affiliation I’ve rolled, I’m known as quite a friendly and diplomatic person to play with.

My Mafia-playing background is mostly rolemadness, but in recent times I’ve grown to prefer the simpler setups with emphasis on actual Scumhunting, such as these games.

"Much has been lost since the great cataclysm tore this world apart. This danger has been foreseen since the very beginnings of history, but until now, there was nothing that could be done....

There have been a great many ages to this world. But those pages of history have been lost, forgotten... consumed by the Dark. But this Darkness is beyond all shadow, it is an emptiness so vast that it spans the very heavens.

The silent storm comes. It tears through the very fabric of our existence, Unmaking everything it touches. But it does not simply destroy, it annihilates. It destroys matter, energy, space, and time. It unravels the very threads of history into nothingness. Soon, nothing will be all that remains of our world. Our people, destroyed. Our way of life, forgotten. Our homes, wiped off of the face of all creation. History itself will be undone...

..the very heavens
themselves collapsing under the weight of this great emptiness. Our enemy, this great void, this silent storm, has no name, no face, no known identity. We do not understand what it is, or why it comes. We just know that it is coming. We know that it is arriving here, at this place, at this specific point in history, at long last... Our greatest minds, our most valiant warriors, our greatest healers, and our brightest scholars, throughout history, have been gathered. They were joined together by a band of heroes, champions of their various realms, who were able to enter.....

....from outside of space and time.
This realm, the Eternal realm, exists as part of the great celestial heavens. Situated high above this world, on another fold of existence, the Eternal realm holds together twin fabrics of dreams and imaginings, weaving them together along with space and time to form the boundaries of our reality....

...Dreamweavers, who are the makers of Dreams, and the Diviners, who are the authors of Imaginings. These two immortal races are the guardians of our mortal world, from high above. The mortal beings far below consider us to be gods. But it is said that there are beings of even greater power who originate from beyond the stars, known as Celestials. These take mortal form, and inhabit the bodies of mortals for their entire lifespan, until they die... they are then passed on...

...cannot be destroyed, they eternally reincarnate- as the phoenix rises from the ashes, so too, do these Celestials, as long as there is a mortal form for them to inhabit. It has taken us a long time to find these Celestials, who are thought to be Avatars of the Creator, the One being who breathed this world into existence. While in mortal form, the Celestials live and think like ordinary mortals, and do not possess the memory of their Immortal being. So they are unaware....

...but even my own memories are fading due to the effects of the void. I am trying to hold within me the vast memories of forgotten histories, of ages that are now nothing more than legend, stories of empires and of adventurers and wars and eras of peace, stories of love, and triumph over evil. It is vitally important that our world is not destroyed, and that our histories not be erased. The memories of billions of lives and thousands of centuries reside within me, the Guardian Avatar of Memory.

As we stand here on the great Plain of Destiny, at the point in history foretold to be the meeting of our world with the very edges of emptiness, we stand ready to fight whatever it is that threatens to consume us. But our greatest thinkers know mortal weapons will be of little use against that which Unmakes us. Our most powerful magic spells have so far been completely ineffective against the void, their energies depleting as soon....

...possible that nothing can withstand this great evil,
and it may be beyond our understanding. Still, this threat has united us like nothing else. Our very existence is at stake. Our assembled Champions will fight, and they will win, or they will be forgotten, and all memory of their valiant struggle will have been lost inside of the great darkness, the silent storm of the void. As I look up, I see that the stars in the heavens are slowly being consumed, and the edges of this darkness touch the ground in the far distance.

It comes! Now it is our final battle. We will fight, or we will fall.

I vow that no matter what, I will remember the names and deeds of all who have the courage to face the storm.

For as long as I can.

....Until it consumes me as well."

Requesting my bio to be changed to Riki's pls
See I'm mad thingy didn't add the change to my bio where I had the new accolade of "Most Handsome Wildcard in 2015 Mafia Championship: Game 6" He said something about "it would violate his integrity as a human" and he "Didn't think he could physically be responsible for that large of a lie"

How do you breathe a sigh of relief onto your face?

Hi Banks how's it going I thought you said in spec chat you weren't gonna be here when the game opens, or am I misremembering?

Here's a secret; I don't know how to type words on a forum in coherent sentences, especially with the anticipation of getting my role not really wearing off

don't tell anyone

I lied if I said that. I was way too excited to sleep in, much to the dismay of my alarm clock (may he rest in pieces).

Unfortunately for the spectator chat I rolled village probably the seer so we won't be seeing a wolf victory just another town stomp. Hopefully in 3 days.

Sentences are for losers anyways. So why do you want riki's bio? I haven't gotten a chance to read through everyone's yet.

You ninja'd me, and on that logic, your vote should have initially been on Banks, who claimed to be first, as was not.

I also made a post where I said "I lied" which might have fallen under the same ruling.
