SPECTATOR CHAT

Hello dear spectators!

If you would like to spectate this game please add me on Skype and I will invite you to the spectator chat: thingyman

We currently have more than 100 people from all the different communities spectating these games. It is a ton of fun and in season 1 it even led to a bunch of crossover games between communities, so even if you're not that interested in actually discussing the games, it may be a great chance to do some networking. This whole thing is really mostly about building a cross-community bond, so please pop in and say hi.

Note that the spectator chat will NOT be spoiled.

GAME SUMMARY

As the game progresses, a summary of game events by day and night cycle will be provided here.

Day 1

Re: The 2015 Mafia Championship: Game 3

RULES
  • Only post / talk about the game in this thread. Don't PM other players. Don't post anything about the game in other threads or on other forums. Except for the mafia team. The mafia team can communicate with each other privately during the night phase and only the night phase.
  • Don't edit your posts. The idea is everybody gets to see the same information in the thread. You are allowed to link to images, videos, etc., but don't change them. Again, everybody gets the same information in the thread.
  • Don't try to use the form of your role PM. So a screenshot of your role PM would be cheating. As would discussing the time stamp of your PM.
  • When the thread is open and the moderator has announced DAY you can post in it. But only as long as you are a live player. No dead posts, please.
  • Vote by bolding a name. I repeat: You vote by simply bolding a player's name - no need for "Vote: X" or anything like that. To change votes just bold a different name, or unvote. Vote counts will show how much time remains in the day. Votes in the final minute (:00) of day will count. :01 votes won't be counted.
  • Breadcrumbing is allowed. Unbreakable codes or code links + private keys or any stuff resembling that is NOT allowed. So as an example, this is disallowed.
  • This is a game of lying. Players are expected to lie. No statement or promise a player makes within the game has any force outside the game. As an example, a bet offered in a game is not something you can collect if you win.
  • If we believe you to be intentionally angleshooting (bending the rules intentionally in a way that clearly goes against the spirit of the rule and the game), then that would also be grounds for modkill. Do not try to get fancy or angly with the rules, please.
  • Changing your avatar or your location AFTER having received your role PM is NOT allowed.
  • If you have any questions about rules, send a PM to this account. I'd be happy to help. You should not be asking the mod questions in the thread and neither should you ever refer to private communications with the mod.
  • No hydra'ing / multi-accounting is allowed. Do not share your account with anyone else.
And for completeness' sake, here is once again a link to the standard game rules for this forum.

Lynch rules
  • There is no majority lynch in this game except for at lylo (called must lynch on this site) for the sake of being able to keep the same schedule throughout the game. Whoever has the most votes at deadline will be lynched. Tie votes are explained below.
  • At lylo these rules will be in effect: Votes will be LOCKED IN. There will be no unvoting or vote changing, so make sure to vote wisely! Day ends immediately once majority is reached - do not post once this happens even if the mod isn't around to call it.
  • No lynch is allowed.
Tie votes

In the event of a tie vote, there will be a sort of "coin flip" to determine the outcome. Specifically, post ID will be the determining factor (which guarantees a fair "flip"). Click here for an in depth explanation.

TIPS TO MAKE THE FORUM EASIER TO USE

{Makaze} has created an incredible extension for the twoplustwo search function. It will expand search results to show the entire post, rather than snippets of each post.

You want this a lot.

See below for links and installation for Chrome (use Tampermonkey) and Firefox (use Greasemonkey).

I made a tool to help with ISOs for this game. It shows full posts in searches instead of snippets.

Two Plus Two - Expanded Search Results

Preview: http://puu.sh/h6ZuQ.png

Install by clicking the Raw button with Greasemonkey (for Firefox) or Tampermonkey (for Chrome) installed.
And here for Safari:

So how do you read a single player / pull up an iso? Here are 2 ways to do it.

From the forum page, click the number next to the thread title (488 here). This brings up a window called "Who Posted". From there click the number next to a poster to see their posts in the search page.

OR From within the thread, click search this thread at the top, then advanced search.

This brings up a window where you can enter a poster name and / or keywords.

Here is a sample search result. Click the title within a post to go to that post.

Use my twoplustwo / Edit Options to change the look & feel of the forum.

There you may want to make yourself invisible. This means your name doesn't appear at the bottom of the forum page while you are reading. Almost all the regular players here use invisible.

Change your posts/page from the default 15 to a number that suits you.

Tell the forum your timezone.

Maybe try different colors.

Don't forget to click Save Changes.

---

You can use tapatalk. And there is also a twoplustwo app for phones that is like tapatalk.

---

Also note that each vote count has more info than just votes:
  • The number in (99) is how many times that player has posted.
  • You can click the names to go to the post with the vote.
  • It shows you how much time remains in the day.

---

Finally, for spectators from other forums... Register an account so you can set posts per page, colors / timezone, and use the phone app. It makes for much easier reading.

PLAYER BIOS

#1 Player: Adaham

Username for this game: Adaham

Representing: TaleWorlds

Started playing in: 2006

Bio:
Some say, he became addicted to Werewolf in late 2006, when in his first game of Forum-based Werewolf he nailed two wolves in the first two nights, but didn't live through the second night to take home the crown.

Others say, he has changed his playing style so many times, that he should be rightfully nicknamed "The Chameleon".

All we know is, that he has retired multiple times from online Werewolf, only to return time and again to show the kids how it's done properly (and get lynched for it).

#2 Player: Askthepizzaguy

Username for this game: Askthepizzaguy

Representing: The Org

Started playing in: 2008

Bio:
Askthepizzaguy is the only player in history convinced that if he stares at a screen long enough, and types enough words, he can force people to confess their roles in the guessing game known as mafia. He's also convinced that he's good at it, despite mountains of evidence otherwise. Selected for the previous season of mafia championships for absolutely no reason that we can see, he joined the website 2+2 and was thoroughly satisfied with himself for voting nothing but scumbags in one game, surviving to the final lynch, and being lynched instead of convincing anyone at all to lynch even a single wolf, because he's under the impression that is a notable accomplishment. Having driven away all the players from TWC, he achieved a similar goal at his native website known as the Org, and once hosted a mafia game so terrible that mafia is no longer even played on the Straight Dope, and every other website he's been to is losing players at an alarming rate. His most recent accomplishments feature a string of unfinished overhyped and overdesigned games, and seems to understand the word "retirement" much like a professional wrestler does, and continually announces his retirement forever from mafia games on multiple sites, only to still hang around as if anyone cares, and voluntarily join more games no one asked him to join. Basically, he's a clingy, self-absorbed, delusional, overly talkative, emo *****, so he'll fit right in at 2+2.

Bio:
I started playing Mafia in spring 2012 and it has completely changed my life. Since then, I have been getting paid three times as much at my job, got a huge house with a pool and garden and one of those devices that turns urine into drinkable water (it still tastes like pee but you get the idea), and been drowning in women begging to jump on my wagon . Well I kinda lied about the women. And the house. The money is not that good either, but I still get like a solid 1k/month from insurance which is kinda nice.

I represent duelistgroundz.com, we are a forum of tall gentlemen having rather gifted anatomical traits in the area of the groin, hence our slogan, Duelistgroundz.com, tall mother****ers with big dicks. It is a forum created to discuss Yugioh, but no one really plays yugioh because yugioh is for **** so instead we discuss about our dicks or play mafia, where we try to play but no one really understands how this is supposed to be played so we end up discussing about our dicks anyway.

My parents don’t think highly of my mafia playing lifestyle because our meta is really aggressive, it involves people shouting all over and calling other people names which I don’t really approve, I am a very calm and collected individual. This one time it really went out of hand, I was just in the thread chillin and relaxin but then a couple of guys came into the thread posting all kinds of ****, like they really were up to no good and they started making trouble in the thread, I got in one little fight and my mom got scared and said “ You’re movin with your anty and uncle in Bel Air” I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said fresh and had a dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought, nah forget it, yo home to Bel Air!

I am very easy going and get along with people all colours and sizes. Unless you’re black. Or asian. Or Jewish. Or a woman, because my religion considers talking to these things a lethal sin. Or one of those dudes who put the conditioner before the shampoo, it’s not a lethal sin but that’s just wrong.

I tend to overanalyze situations and hurt myself in confusion. Sometimes I hurt others too. With words. And like whips and **** if they’re into that (I have the equipment its ready for use if you are interested hmu for a good time). But mostly I hurt myself. I try to follow the wise words of scholar J. Cole and not overthink just hope its right because im only here for the night, but when he said that he was trying to convince a girl to have sex with him and then a little later he suggested she ‘drop that thang down to the flo’ , implying her buttox, so I am currently unsure how that correlates to my situation.

I wonder if J. Cole is on Duelistgroundz

Hi. I'm Iso.

I've been playing forum-based Mafia for almost 4 years, now, and have over 100 completed games under my belt. While I initially started on IRC, I eventually started playing forum-based Mafia as a request from my brother, who also plays with us on MTGS. I haven't dropped it, since. I come from a meta where attempting to solve the game on Day 1 is not unusual, and we depend on hard analysis of wagons, mindset, timing, and other such things over letting our power roles solve the game. One of my favorite things to do is to try to catch players in their first post when I'm town. I've participated in games across many different sites and communities, and I've found my own to be the cream of the crop. Prove me wrong.

Hi,
My name is Mads and I’m 27 years old. I am proudly representing PokerNet - a Danish Community. I haven’t lost a game since 12/2013 (the total number of games since are not important) and am filled with confidence. I have an analysing style and enjoy combining whatever mechanical and nonmechanical data available to form reads and deduce the different roles. I mostly enjoy being a townie as finding a solution to the game is what motivates me the most.

You wanna get nuts, lets get nuts - The Joker from The Dark Knight

Nicknamed Alexander (after the great) and Doobie Howser for his great skills at mafia, yet being so young, Theodore Capps is one of Something Awful's shining stars. You might say he has gone supernova. Previous 2+2 Champions Merk and Mills have this to say about Capps:

Its amazing what that kid can do. He reads you like a book, but interprets you like a film - Mills

He is pretty OK I guess. No Shuckyducky, but the kid has guts - Merk

Capps started playing mafia at 14 years old online. About 2 years ago he arrived on the SA scene and made a scene. 6 months ago he modded his first SA Mafia game, Loose Change Mafia. He runs the libertarian club called The Fountainheads at his local university. And though he would call his political views Libertarian Conservative, he plays mafia like a Radical Anarchist. He may be 20, but don't underestimate him.

I tend to be a gut-based player, and I look for little things in a player’s tone, word choice, underlying motivations, etc. in order to read a player. I look for these things in both townies and scum alike. But when presenting my cases to others, I try to back my suspicions up with logic and strong arguments. Sometimes it takes me a while to get into a game and find my footing, but usually once I feel strongly about something I will take point and try to push the thread to view things the same way I am. It’s a weakness, I sometimes develop tunnel vision. But I try to let my suspicions be developed by talking with other players and not always just about them because that allows me more chances to accurately read the player. I don’t always get to interact with others as often as I want to, especially in a fast paced game such as this, because of my work/commute hours. I work Monday - Friday from 1:30pm - 7:30pm PST and I occasionally work Saturday mornings, and only get a few breaks during that time to check my phone, so some of my votes/posts will be quick and ninja-like. But mafia is my lifeblood, and I’m incredibly honored to be representing my awesome community here, so I’ll be around as much as my work schedule possibly allows me to be. Game on!

If you thought that mafia was a game for the loud, the boisterous, the hot-blooded ones who want to make themselves heard no matter what, think again. WPK embodies the polar opposite. Cold, detached and rational, WPK is an analyst through and through. As uninterested as he is in having casual conversation during games, as interested he is in spitting through the casual conversation of others, looking for clues, reading between the lines, gauging attitudes and spying for slips. There is little that escapes WPK's attention and the things that do are often of little significance. Though you might not see him posting often, make no mistake. WPK is watching you. Watching and judging. Providing sound analysis no matter what side he's on, it is nearly impossible to read his alignment through his posts. He can not be provoked into slipping and any emotional appeal is guaranteed to fail in producing the wanted result. WPK is the tactician behind the scenes, the seer in the darkness. If you try to hide something he'll be sure to find it and if you lie at all...

Prepare for interrogation.

Re: The 2015 Mafia Championship: Game 3

DAY 1: THE COMMUTE FROM HELL

You have finally made it.

You remove the bag of ice from your wrist and stand up in the small commuter plane that the legendary sport mastermind Feng sent to retrieve you. Oh, the hours you have toiled. You pause to remember the time spent shifting side to side in the murky basements of Chinatown, chasing the metaphysical white rabbit in a sphere that is the arrow in your heart. You are the soul in tune with the most noble profession; a fight between light and dark, a battle of wills, a volley of pure torment and bliss lifted from the hands of dexterous and nimble Gods.

It was a long trek. You are exhausted both spiritually and physically, as the path you tread to reach this destination was arduous and at times felt never-ending. Emotionally, you are just fine. I mean, who would get upset about a game of ping pong?

You are seated promptly along the lines of other Champions who have come to play this brutal game. How will you stand out from the rest of the herd? How can you prove yourself worthy of the ancestors that warred paddle-to-paddle so deftly the land itself was scarred from their magnificent streaks?

Well, you can try to play good. That would probably help.

From out of the darkness arrives Feng.

You've heard many stories of this man; a true champion of the sport, but also a dark man riddled with a destructive past. A first-born natural killer and a mastermind not to be crossed. You brace yourself for his words, as you know they will hold tremendous wait.

He clears his throat. Minions line his side. The air tenses of it's own volition.

"Okie-dokie artichokie. First of all, I know getting here was the commute from hell. I have to be a smidge off the beaten track here."

The room begins to shake under the weight of his words. The tournament is beginning.

Let the games begin.

IT IS DAY! YOU MAY POST!

Well you could go with townie, or wolfy, or howling, or green, or red. Kind of a lot of options here. I can't decide if I think you really don't understand the question or are just trolling me..

So like I guess waking up early to catch the start of this game might have been a bad idea. We have a bunch of night owls in the game? That would actually be awesome for me so I can do my normal sleeping pattern.
