SPECTATOR CHAT

Hello dear spectators!

If you would like to spectate this game please add me on Skype and I will invite you to the spectator chat: thingyman

We currently have more than 100 people from all the different communities spectating these games. It is a ton of fun and in season 1 it even led to a bunch of crossover games between communities, so even if you're not that interested in actually discussing the games, it may be a great chance to do some networking. This whole thing is really mostly about building a cross-community bond, so please pop in and say hi.

Note that the spectator chat will NOT be spoiled.

GAME SUMMARY

As the game progresses, a summary of game events by day and night cycle will be provided here.

Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4

The town wins!

RULES
  • Only post / talk about the game in this thread. Don't PM other players. Don't post anything about the game in other threads or on other forums. Except for the mafia team. The mafia team can communicate with each other privately during the night phase and only the night phase.
  • Don't edit your posts. The idea is everybody gets to see the same information in the thread. You are allowed to link to images, videos, etc., but don't change them. Again, everybody gets the same information in the thread.
  • Don't try to use the form of your role PM. So a screenshot of your role PM would be cheating. As would discussing the time stamp of your PM.
  • When the thread is open and the moderator has announced DAY you can post in it. But only as long as you are a live player. No dead posts, please.
  • Vote by bolding a name. I repeat: You vote by simply bolding a player's name - no need for "Vote: X" or anything like that. To change votes just bold a different name, or unvote. Vote counts will show how much time remains in the day. Votes in the final minute (:00) of day will count. :01 votes won't be counted.
  • Breadcrumbing is allowed. Unbreakable codes or code links + private keys or any stuff resembling that is NOT allowed. So as an example, this is disallowed.
  • This is a game of lying. Players are expected to lie. No statement or promise a player makes within the game has any force outside the game. As an example, a bet offered in a game is not something you can collect if you win.
  • If we believe you to be intentionally angleshooting (bending the rules intentionally in a way that clearly goes against the spirit of the rule and the game), then that would also be grounds for modkill. Do not try to get fancy or angly with the rules, please.
  • Changing your avatar or your location AFTER having received your role PM is NOT allowed.
  • If you have any questions about rules, send a PM to this account. I'd be happy to help. You should not be asking the mod questions in the thread and neither should you ever refer to private communications with the mod.
  • No hydra'ing / multi-accounting is allowed. Do not share your account with anyone else.

And for completeness' sake, here is once again a link to the standard game rules for this forum.

Lynch rules
  • There is no majority lynch in this game except for at lylo (called must lynch on this site) for the sake of being able to keep the same schedule throughout the game. Whoever has the most votes at deadline will be lynched. Tie votes are explained below.
  • At lylo these rules will be in effect: Votes will be LOCKED IN. There will be no unvoting or vote changing, so make sure to vote wisely! Day ends immediately once majority is reached - do not post once this happens even if the mod isn't around to call it.
  • No lynch is allowed.
Tie votes

In the event of a tie vote, there will be a sort of "coin flip" to determine the outcome. Specifically, post ID will be the determining factor (which guarantees a fair "flip"). Click here for an in depth explanation.

TIPS TO MAKE THE FORUM EASIER TO USE

{Makaze} has created an incredible extension for the twoplustwo search function. It will expand search results to show the entire post, rather than snippets of each post.

You want this a lot.

See below for links and installation for Chrome (use Tampermonkey) and Firefox (use Greasemonkey).

So how do you read a single player / pull up an iso? Here are 2 ways to do it.

From the forum page, click the number next to the thread title (488 here). This brings up a window called "Who Posted". From there click the number next to a poster to see their posts in the search page.

OR From within the thread, click search this thread at the top, then advanced search.

This brings up a window where you can enter a poster name and / or keywords.

Here is a sample search result. Click the title within a post to go to that post.

Use my twoplustwo / Edit Options to change the look & feel of the forum.

There you may want to make yourself invisible. This means your name doesn't appear at the bottom of the forum page while you are reading. Almost all the regular players here use invisible.

Change your posts/page from the default 15 to a number that suits you.

Tell the forum your timezone.

Maybe try different colors.

Don't forget to click Save Changes.

---

You can use tapatalk. And there is also a twoplustwo app for phones that is like tapatalk.

---

Also note that each vote count has more info than just votes:
  • The number in (99) is how many times that player has posted.
  • You can click the names to go to the post with the vote.
  • It shows you how much time remains in the day.

---

Finally, for spectators from other forums... Register an account so you can set posts per page, colors / timezone, and use the phone app. It makes for much easier reading.[/QUOTE]

Bio:
So I started playing Mafia 2 years ago on Shoryuken. Over this time, I've come to develop an analytical approach to the game with a preference to being on the Civilian team. I tend to use voting patterns and in-game relationships as the major factor of my lynch votes, rather than reads made by myself or others. Except Day 1. Every Day 1 phase, I vote to lynch a JTM player named RadicalFuzz, regardless of whether he's playing or not (even if he's GMing the game). I take this vote seriously, even going as far as to exchange services for the currency of Day 1 RadicalFuzz votes from other JTM players. Also, **** you RadicalFuzz I'm still not telling you why I vote for you every Day 1, and I'm still going to vote for you Day 1 in the GoC. Back on topic, I've received several MVP's by using the roles in the game to my advantage (such as RCing Mafia in order to get the Traitor to contact me), and as such, have become a high priority target. I usually represent myself with Kristoph Gavin and Byakuya Togami images.

I am one of the players from Shoryuken that helped build Jesus Toast Mafia from the ground up after Vanilla Forums ****ed us around too much, with me being the lead graphical designer. We built JTM in order to make sure we had a stable site that didn't have any censorship or overbearing rules. Speaking of which, most of my favourite words are banned on 2+2, including the c-word, the f-word, the other f-word, the n-word and the other n-word. Yes, I'm Australian. I'm Synonym's (GoC Season 1) best friend irl, and Missing Person's (also GoC Season 1) co-host on JTM's Podcast, 'The Salted Butter Podcast (Starring Lando the Unicorn)'. I wasn't able to participate or register interest in GoC Season 1, as I was hosting my own Arena game at the time. Thanks again to Thingyman for taking attention away from my Arena game. Dick.

Not only am I one of the best Mafia players on JTM, I am also indisputably one of the best MSPaint artists, with my talents showing through in our MSPaint Whispers games. My masterpieces include 'Brown choad in a meadow. Two clouds. Godzilla raping moose.' and 'Squirtle, dog, house, lighthouse, Neptune killing bitches in Titanic.'. I have also received the award for 'Best Writer' on JTM, being described as "the Dr. Seuss of Yaoi Fanfiction". Outside of Mafia, my hobbies include video games and getting complimented on my hair during JTM's Game Nights.

There. That ought to be enough shameless website-plugging to satisfy Missing Person.

My name is Chris and I am 27 years old and I am from Florida. I have been playing mafia in one form or another for over a decade now, starting with old IRC games way back in the day. Since then I graduated to IM games which were incredibly fast paced and relied more on charisma and being very bold than skill a lot of the time. I suppose that's a skill onto itself, however. My first experience with board mafia came in 2008 and I haven't looked back since. I have hundreds of games under my belt since that time and have played in communities where the pace is very slow (days lasting weeks at a time) although my usual expertise is days which last 48 hours, which fits the mold of this game much more. I pride myself on being a balanced player who is capable as both scum and town, and eagerly seek to play with people who have a high skill level. Mostly though I just play for fun, it just so happens the most fun that can be found in mafia is trying to outwit intelligent people as best that I can as either alignment.

Hi, I'm bcb. I am the representative from Walter football where we lovingly call our games wafia. It's full of Lulz, Wtf and entertaining moments. We also mainly play role madness set ups. About two phases of the game here will likely dwarf many of the post counts for total games at wafia.

I've been playing over at WF for a couple years and have won a few mvps in my time as both town and scum. I'm more an observer by nature so don't expect extremely high post counts from me.

I'm also a teacher so most of the day I'm able to check in periodically on breaks and what not. Most of my postings will happen after 6 eastern during the week.

I do actually play poker occasionally and cashed in the only casino tournament I've ever been involved in. My pro sport team favorites are completely random but all have reasons. Jets, grizzlies, reds, and lightning. I'm not overly political. My religious beliefs are 1. There is a God and 2. I'm not him.

I've played Mafia exclusively on rateyourmusic for about three and a half years, participating in around 45-50 games either as a player or moderator. I try to play with a balance of assertive leadership and clinical logic regardless of alignment. I often find myself deliberately pursuing one-on-one communication with [nearly] every player in a game thread as a means of generating a large quantity of readable content for everyone else and developing my own reads (or strategies to fudge reads as necessary). This means I accumulate quite a lot of lengthy posts, though I've a feeling I won't stand out in this competition quite so much in that regard. ;-)

Y'all may not know who they are, but I'd like to attribute much of my style to RYMers MrMungbean, Sloonei, and MacDougall (among others), who I've emulated often.

Honored to have been chosen to play in this tournament. I am not that good of a player but since working in DC, I have learned it's not what you know, it's who you know, and apparently I impressed enough of my fellow Realmsers that they chose me as tribute.

Originally from a small island off the coast of Maine, I know work at a major non profit in international development. AKA, I am literally trying to save the world.

In all honesty, I hope no hard feelings after the game no matter how things turned out. Everything I will say, do, and feel is about a game. It's always just a game.

Name: Ryker

Race: Human (White/Caucasian)

Age: Rumour says 24

Favorite Color: Red (Because it would be unfair to also choose white and blue)

Appearance- A slim, somewhat short individual with a bearded face and a deceptively charming shine to his eyes, only seen on seldom removal of his faded baseball cap. The features of his face seem at once crooked, misplaced, and perfect. He wears an ordinary t-shirt and worn jeans, each a size too large, but he carries himself like a prince.

Description- Ryker was reportedly born and raised to the tournament competitive life, in the Deep South, an oft-fabled land of sweet tea, tangy meat, hats, and average-to-poor hygiene. He is known far and wide in the competitive circuits, but only by his gamertag. Ryker comes and goes like words on the wind, whispers of a charming smile, a bulging brain, breath smelling of mint and tasting of salt. It is rumoured that his love of tacos is second to no man, and that behind this love is a great and terrible secret, which drives him to win any and every competition he applies himself to. He will not rest until the job is done, and when it is, he is immediately gone without a trace. Only the trophies remain at venues to attest to his existing at all.

I'm a relatively new veteran at GITP. After returning from personal hiatus last year, I have gained notoriety as a very dangerous villager, able to lead town; identify good theory, bad theory, and fake theory; and devise useful strategies in any situation. Meanwhile I have enjoyed modest success as a mafioso, though due to conspiracy of the random number gods I have only been selected as mafioso in highly variant games where I could successfully argue that my normal villager strategies did not apply, so not even I know entirely what my mafia strategy is. I am used to a slower, more debate-focused format, wherein I try to maneuver mafiosos into detectable lies while only lying myself when I plan to get caught, so the fast pace of these games will provide an interesting challenge to adapt, and I look forward to the opportunity to experiment with new playstyles and new players.

CHAPTER 1: THE HUNGER GAMES

The 24 tributes from the 12 different districts have been chosen, groomed, put in front of cameras and have finished their training.

All there's left is to enjoy the spectacle. A televised deathmatch. Everyone will be tuning in for this; They have to, it's law. The games are there to remind them not to rebel against the Capitol again as they had done in the past.

It seems to be a good harvest this year. A lot of promising talent out there. Marvel and Glimmer from District 1. And you can't forget about Cato or Clove from District 2. Those four make up the heavily expected career district alliance going into these Games. While it isn't spoken about on the telecasts, everyone knows that these four have illegally trained for the Games from a young age.

But there are most certainly some dark horses too. The mighty Thresh from District 11 got a good score. So did red-haired Foxface from District 5, sneaky little Rue from District 11, and the camouflage expert Peeta. But all eyes are on the Girl on Fire: Katniss Everdeen from District 12. She's made quite a splash in the pre-game interviews and events. Will she be able to utilize her incredible skills with a bow and arrow to win this just like she won the hearts of everyone in Panem?

Who knows. That's what we're about to find out. Stay on the channel because...

It is NOW... TIME... FOR... THE 49TH HUNGER GAMES!

God, I've never played a game with so few roles. This **** makes vanilla-coloured drywall look exciting in comparison. Guess I'll have to work with what I've got though.

Role Analysis:

Cop
Scenario: Always investigates Civs, Mafia never kills investigated Civs, Civs only lynched.
Day 1 - 2/13 known Civs, ~15% Civs confirmed if RC now, ~7% chance of dying (getting lynched).
Night 1 - 2/12 known Civs, ~16% confirmed, ~11% chance of dying (getting Night killed).
Day 2 - 3/11 known Civs, ~27% confirmed, ~9% chance of dying.
Night 2 - 3/10 known Civs, 30% confirmed, ~14% chance of dying.
Day 3 - 4/9 known Civs, ~44% confirmed, ~11% chance of dying.
Night 3 - 4/8 known Civs, 50% confirmed, 20% chance of dying.
Day 4 - 5/8 known alignments, all Mafia known. Civs win.

Scenario: Always investigates Civs, Mafia only kills investigated Civs, Civs only lynched, pre-game check lynched Day 1.
Day 1 - 2/13 known Civs, ~15% confirmed, ~7% chance of dying.
Night 1 - 1/12 known Civs, ~8% confirmed, ~11% chance of dying.
Day 2 - 1/11 known Civs, ~9% confirmed, ~9% chance of dying.
Night 2 - 1/10 known Civs, 10% confirmed, ~14% chance of dying.
Day 3 - 1/9 known Civs, ~11% confirmed, ~11% chance of dying.
Night 3 - 1/8 known Civs, ~12% confirmed, 20% chance of dying.
Day 4 - 1/7 known Civs, ~14% confirmed, ~14% chance of dying.
Night 4 - Mafia equality, Mafia win.

Most of the above is for my own statistical analysis, but the points I want to drive home are that the Cop needs to investigate people they believe will survive for a long period of time (i.e. probably not going to be lynched during the day/targeted by Mafia at Night). The Mafia will most likely be trying to hide in this group anyway, so they're good investigations regardless. The other point is that the longer you hold your investigation results, the easier this game gets for us to find Mafia when you do role claim. BUT, taking longer to role-claim is a risk that you have to weigh up for yourself. I do believe we can lynch all 3 Mafia by looking at voting patterns and night kills, without the need for Cop results, but these results will make the game easier.

Do not misinterpret the above as "hold onto your investigation results as long as possible", I'm merely evaluating the risk/reward ratio of not claiming per phase.

If at any point, you get a Guilty result, it is my firm belief that you should step forward immediately with the result. You can keep it for the extra risk/reward gamble, but I personally don't believe the reward is worth the risk. Plus, if we can't find 2 Mafia without the help of the Cop, we don't belong in the GoC (looking at you, Game 1).

I am willing to discuss differing opinions on the Cop's actions, such as what percentage of confirmed Civs he should claim at, but I am firm on the Cop claiming as soon as they get a Guilty result.
