can you clarify that this means that you wouldn't hear them on a rock radio station today that plays like indie stuff
I could/should have qualified #15 to state this: While the band's genre would dictate its songs being played on a modern rock (indie/alternative/emo/etc.) station, its songs are not normally played on those stations.

In other words, his band does not receive any regular radio airtime on a national level.

Since I have clarified #15, you are free to take this back and ask another if you'd like.

Honestly, I feel bad that this has turned out to be as obscure as it is.

Final hint: I thought Nick had it after his comment following #15.

I think Wikipedia may have led him astray.

He's definitely in the mix. Don't think it has to be an emo band, though. Mangum makes sense. Craig Finn from the The Hold Steady? They never had a big radio hit.

Most of my other gut candidates are coming up just outside the age range.

could use 1 question to ask if it's among 4 people, then 1 to guess

James Mercer from The Shins fits, I think

or if we have 3 people in mind, ask if it's one of 2 of the least likely ones

The Shins don't get airtime on radio? They prob do on satellite radio. I don't listen to radio

Yeah I don't listen to much radio either, so not sure. They never had a hit single and don't play large venues afaik.

We could ask "has he been mentioned in this thread yet"

Edit - good catch....definitely use last guess on him if he's still alive

Not sure in which direction to take this. There has to be something special about this band but it could be an obscure genre, an incredible amount of success or something else.

Edit: We could also cross our fingers they released an album 2012/2013, that would be of great help but obviously a complete waste of a Q if they haven't.
I believe Jeremy Enigk not Dan Hoerner was the front singer of Sunny Day Real Estate and and he was born in 1974.

Looks like they both sang lead at some point. Maybe go Carraba then Enigk, and hope to bink it. Better than what I have.

Part of my reason for thinking its Jeremy Enigk is because of the above post.

Could consider a question that determines East Coast versus West Coast roots.
