Someone with ties to the Montreal Expos I suppose. But not a player. Question was "Person ever played in MLB or NHL?"

Looks like every single former manager of the Expos also played in the MLB, so it wouldn't be an Expos manager.

The Expos didn't even exist until 1969 so it's really hard to find anyone born before 1921 that has ties to them. So maybe it's not the Expos.

There's a Dallas Cowboys avatar, but the person is not "known" for NFL which makes Cowboys pretty unlikely. Also the lightning avatar could be what AK is referring to for NHL? That one question was "ever played" and not "known for".

It's pretty unlikely that AK's person is related to Iowa State (my avatar).

LAST HINT.. The Person has nothing to do with Canada, Expos or Dallas Cowboys... think US College Football (I assumed you all would get to US College Football sooner.. my bad)

I missed that lol. Ok, so a coach or famous player that didn't make the NFL... The stadium is named after Nile Kinnick. Checks the boxes?

Oh geez did AK really pick someone related to Iowa State and I happen to post in this thread for the first time in several years lmao.

Nile Kinnick is Iowa. He would fit otherwise. Never played in the NFL.

It's probably Jack Trice (who Iowa State's stadium is named after). Iowa State just played a game this weekend wearing throwback uniforms dedicated to him. He never played in the NFL (died due to injuries occurred during a game at ISU).

Is the person well known for being a head coach of a college football team?

Not an official guess, but Bear Bryant must be a major contender.

Other college coaches that I know of, who might be old enough, include Rockne, Paterno, and Bowden. I don't really know college football, but these are names I know, so they must be significant.

It is....Jack Trice

I guess I was optimistic that you all could get to US College Football sooner. I figured that once you factored DOB (1902), and then maybe narrowed down things regionally or by conference, then he was gettable. Maybe not. Could be 20Q would never be enough.

The hint I gave about an avatar was to get you to just think about US College football in general (Acirt’s Iowa State sports logo), and then be surprised later that the avatar was leading way more directly to the actual person.

As Acirt noted, Jack Trice's story is a sad one. He was trampled (reportedly) by three opposing players in an Iowa/Minnesota football game and died a couple of days later due to his injuries. He was African American and it was felt that attack on the field was racially motivated. In fact, Iowa would not play Minnesota again for 66 years because of the attack.

Jack Trice is said to be the only African-American person with a D1 College Stadium named after him, so he is not an obscure person.

I came across the story about Jack Trice while watching a Smithsonian Channel 1 hour show on the State of Iowa. I think they have a one hour show on every state. I thought he would be a good 20Q person.

That Acirt stumbled into this thread was kind of erie... There must be over 100 D1 teams and Acirt pops in with the logo....lol

Is that band in the RnR hall of fame?

I love you all, but these are horrible questions for this game.

Q1 & Q3: Instead of asking when the song was written, you really want to ask when the song was released. Luckily, I was able to answer this without too much difficulty.

Q2: Was it written by a female? What would I have done if the song was written by a female but performed by a male? How would that have helped you? What if it was co-written by a male and female? Or a group of men and women?

Q4: Elvis' song "Jailhouse Rock" was most famously performed by a band. (Elvis didn't play all of the instruments on the single or when he played it in concert. There was always a band playing with him.

Q5: Nirvana's song "About a Girl" was on their album "Bleach" which featured Chad Channing on drums. When Nirvana was inducted into the HOF, it was the lineup with Dave Grohl that got in. Chad Channing isn't in the RnR HOF, but Nirvana is.
