Could also just ask if it's Crazy Horse or Sitting Bull, because they seem by far the most likely candidates.

I've come up with five names.

Sitting Bull
Crazy Horse
Big Foot
Dull Knife
Gall?

All seem to be from the Dakotas, have Anglicized names, died in 19th c, fought the power, but didn't die in battle. I think Big Foot was killed after surrendering, so treat that as you will.

it is CRAZY HORSE or Tȟašúŋke Witkó

not that much is known about him by written history. he avoided people who wrote down history. he would have killed any who got close to him before the final months of his life

he was never captured. pretty much won every battle he ever fought, except for the last when he was using bows and arrows vs cannons, and he still kind of won. he got his people(women and children) mostly away, and got away himself

his story should be widely taught in america at least. it's an amazing, compelling story


also, sorry if the "not known for politics" answer was confusing. i wasn't sure how to answer that one

my favorite story about crazy horse is what happened after greasy grass(little bighorn)....

so crazy horse had a lot of responsibility. he had a lot of people to provide for and care for.

after the battle of greasy grass he was elated. he was thinking "FINALLY! the whites will respect our home. they will stop invading and stealing and killing. finally!" but after greasy grass there were more whites than ever. crazy horse got so upset that he just left. he abandoned all his responsibilities and just went off completely on his own, and he went on a killing rampage. killing as many white people as he could.
