I would call Mr. Food a performer, but not Walter Cronkite. Others may have a different opinion, which is why I have asterisked my response.

Died before 1995?

Thinking Gameshow host like Trebek or Bob Barker or Monty Hall

Otherwise a late night host like Carson

May need to ask a question to narrow between those 2...any other categories of tv host we should consider? Maybe a daytime show host like Jerry Springer (but someone who is dead, are there any?)

with so few questions left I wonder if lowering DOB might give more info.. The person would be at least 70 if alive...

Larry King (1933), Jack Paar (1918) Mike Douglas (1920), Merv Griffin (1925), etc

One more, then a guess. If you think about it, you might be able to meta an extra hint/clue. This statement may confuse more than help, but I think you can figure out another clue on your own.

Larry King makes the most sense to me, but the extra text makes me think that it's not correct.

Don't really know where to go here.

When the question was asked "known for music?" Eric answered (offered) "Not best known for music." It might be the meta Eric was referring to...

Mike Douglas would have fit if not for the DOB.

I would say that meta has more to do with the clue giver than the actual clues.

Does Dick Clark tick all the boxes?

EDIT: Probably not on Q9 if Mr Food would have been a yes.
