What's not to understand?

my assumption is that D1 was curious if this song may have peaked well after the release...so say, for example, it had some sort of revival in 1989 or something, thus the chart peak was years away from the release in 1982 (thus making it harder to nail down the song).

I could have just "no" to his question, but the song peaked in 1983 so I thought I would add that info so you folks were not chasing your tails on his possible theory (which was a legit idea/thought).

When I go to the billboard r&b website, I can only see the #1 song when I scroll from week to week. They want me to subscribe in order to see the full chart. Is everyone else seeing the same thing?

I thought you were asking a question we already knew the answer to. Didn't think about it only reaching the top 10 in another year. But also you didn't qualify which top 10, which I interpreted as meaning the main Billboard top 100 chart.

maybe try playback fm top 100 R and B 1983......

I can only find the yearly not weekly.

I just assumed it would be clear what top 10 I was referring to since we already knew it never reached the top 40 on the main chart.

Yeah, I went through that list a couple of times and found nothing that fit. Not sure where I'm going wrong.

A few notes about the song.

I first heard the song at a nightclub/disco in Messena , New York in 1983. I was training in Cornwall, Ontario and a bunch of us took a cross border trip on a Saturday night into Messena. The DJ played that song and I was disappointed that my wife was not with me (she was in Edmonton while I was in Cornwall months). She loved to dance and I was sad….. So, I never forgot the song..

Seems like quite an exaggeration to me, but does speak to the fact it was a top song.

I have heard of this song before but I'm pretty sure I had never heard it.
I'm guessing that in the US it was not played significantly outside of nightclubs. Of course if it was played on black radio stations I wouldn't have heard it either.

Ah yeah, I can see why I missed it. I was only looking at songs that the site had down as being released in 1982, and that song said 1983. Not a fault of yours since the wiki page says 1982, but I wasn't really in the mood to cross reference dozens of songs with wiki lol.
