wolf teams are never as organised as you think they are
I'm pretty sure no wolf team I've ever been on (and I've been on a lot) has ever had every wolf regularly participating
so "surely they would know from wolf chat" is basically never a thing

Plus we've already seen a full wolf seer in okse54. Doubtful they'd have two, although with the ease that the vig's have been killed, not impossible.
