Yeah but that's a real-life nit, which is ok...just don't nit up his fantasy world!

I've experienced periods of this also, filthy. I've even found it harder to pay full attention to movies lately. But then I watch one great movie or read one great book, and I snap out of it.

that's 24 points and the real question is what exactly does the desktop computer come with? the list has video games and internet as separate things so does that mean those aren't included? would anything be included on it?

really wish there was a cheaper female option, like how about a 28 year old or a moderately attractive 18 year old instead of a super hot one

ideal setup is:

kitchen 6
workbench 6
library 4
garden with greenhouse 2
hygiene 3
workout gym 5

that's 26 points leaving enough for all movies and tv shows

but since sex is sex

kitchen 6 points
18 year old 18 points
hygiene 3
garden with greenhouse 2

29 points - just going to have to spend all our time gardening, cooking intricate foods, banging, and then cleaning up afterwards
.

2 points for a green house is a bargain though. you would treasure that extra space. and green house implies sunlight to me.

the only better bargain is 6 points for the kitchen. that is basically a must(unless you get the coma)
this is even more apparent after the isolation of the pandemic. it was brutal on my mental and physical health. and it was nothing like 10 years in a basement.

Only read the OP to know that nobody should ever do this. I know I wouldn't

this is always fun to revisit every few years or so

updated answers:

-Barry Bonds (7 pts)
-Full Kitchen (6 pts)
-Gym (5 pts)
-Movies and TV shows (4 pts)/Library with every book
-Hygiene Products (3 pts)
-Cell Phone (3 pts)
-Skylight (2 pts)

Barry Bonds is obviously the lol choice but you will go completely insane without another person. You may go insane regardless. The 18/yo is a bad play since if you choose her you will either have nothing to do or die from a combination of poor diet/drug use

Update:

Kitchen (6)
Workout room (5)
Library (4)
Hygiene products (3)
Cell phone (3)
Skylight (2)
Kitten (6)
Pool table (1)

Switching out the medical care for a kitten. Not big on pool at all, but it's the only thing there for 1 point.

* Medical care - just in case something goes wrong (3)
* Cell phone - I'd use it to talk to the people I care about one day a week (3)
* Hygeine products - More for the teeth than anything else; jacuzzi is a nice bonus (3)
* Workout room (5)

...leaving me with 4 points. I guess I'd take the satellite radio and the garden.

If skylight is lame, then I'd probably go with the lesser medical care and use the 7 points on the TV.

mandatory:
microwave (2) - must eat
tv w/cable (7) - entertainment, music channels, news so not 10 years behind when I emerge, etc)
hygiene/tub (3) - can't go 10 years without cleaning body or brushing teeth etc

so that leaves me with 18 points

option 1: The girl

companionship and sex; would be no brainer if we also get some cards or some board games, but no option for that in the list

perhaps take the $5M to get 5 more points and add stuff from below list for variety

option 2: Variety + Health
workout room (5) - something to do
workshop (6) - something to do, hobby, learn new skills
train set (2) - new hobby
pool table (1) - hobby
doctor (2) - in case
garden w/greenhouse (2) - sunlight+fresh air, hobby

option 3: Gaming
pc+video games (10) - something to do
workout room (5) - if sitting around tv/gaming all day, need this to counter-balance that
doctor (3) - in case
pool table (1) - hobby

workshop+train set+garden wouldn't be nearly as fun as video games, so this would probably be a better option

of course, if video game 4 points can work for consoles when you get tv/cable and I don't have to buy the pc, then I'd do that and have 9 points left after games+workout and would add in more variety

Assuming Garden w/ Greenhouse doesn't have sunlight for the spirit of this but that seems like a must

Sunlight for 2 absolutely essential or all hope will be lost

next question is can you get around the full kitchen and produce enough food from the greenhouse or is that an absolute must? (microwave, fast food, and gourmet are spew obv)

Those seem like the absolute survival musts so either 4 or 10 points go there.

The gym seems appealing but we can build ourselves a gym using the workshop for a point more

Thing is $10m is no where near enough to do this (especially as a married guy with a baby on the way)

I don't think there's anything other than "silly money" that would make me do this e.g. can cause real societal or environmental change where it would be absurd to not do it.

But assuming I'm forced to do it, in order of choosing:
- Puppy (6 points)
- Skylight (2 points)
- Cell phone (3 points)
- Kitchen (6 points)
- Doctor (2 points)- lol that New Delhi isn't good for doctors
- Garden (2 points)
- Gym (5 points)
- Library (4 points)

Assuming I'm cleaning myself in the kitchen lol

Girl - 18
Internet - 16
Camera - 3

Thats 37, but should be able to make 10m+ uploading vids.

Already over 35, so have 3 points to spend.

Gotta eat.

Microwave vs Garden for 2. Probably microwave since don't want to live off raw vegetables.

Gun vs Pool Table for the final point. Both are good sex props. Flip a coin. I would not take the bullets.

I think people are greatly underestimating the effect not being able to talk to someone for 10 years will have on you. I think anyone that spends that much time in complete isolation (no matter how much you enjoy being alone or how nice your basement setup is) is going to come out ****ed up to the point where the rest of your life post-basement is kind of a throwaway.

yeah i got a taste of this in 2020. i guess a lot of us did. but me, probably more than most. i was in LA and my people were in SF. so i was just alone in my apartment for like 6 months.

i had internet. i had phone. i would go to costco every so often. i would walk in the park. basically i had a ton of stuff from the list. and i wasn't in a basement. and it was only 6 months. and it was brutal. im still recovering from it, 2 years later.

makes me think of solitary confinement in prisons. absolutely it's torture. i would probably lose my mind in just a few days.

Grunching: I've only read the OP and the most recent posts. This is a funny idea though. Just wondering about a few things:

What do you eat if you don't get the microwave, fast food, kitchen, or personal chef? Do you just starve to death, so you have to get one of those?

What do you get if you buy the internet but not the computer? Similarly, what do you get if you buy the movies but not the TV?

And most importantly: will the stunningly attractive 18yo do anything other than have sex with you? Will she actually be happy to be down there with you, or will she be filled with hatred about being thrown in the basement for 10 years? Also, can I choose a 30yo instead? They're better in bed anyway, plus more interesting to have conversations with. If so, would the 30yo blow my entire 30 point budget, or would she cost fewer points because she's out of peak physical attractiveness?
