That was me. :P

I do have to give a hats off to binkles. Even tho I do think his shots were kinda mainstream and shots that pretty much anyone in the game could have made, he did shoot 2 scum in the first 2 nights and I can't take that away from him.
Indeed. There are a lot of players who played well. (Me not among them. AP being scum makes my play not as horrible, but it still makes it at absolute best mediocre.)

Yup. Second-highest post rate for the entire game. Can't help but notice that most of the uber-town players have the highest posting rates. :P

Not that it did me any good. :P And technically, I did do a fair bit of cursing. Even minor curse words like "damn" are things I generally don't use unless I've become agitated. So while I might have given off the aura of being calm and was definitely fairly civil, in my head, I was SCREAMING insults and loosely-restraining my pure rage that I was being ignored. :P

I was very impressed with how you handled yourself Mastin, hopefully we can play together more in the future

It was definitely interesting playing as the village vig - I've never randed it before and I definitely did a few things differently than what I'd usually do as a villager, particularly on day 1. I think a few people (Soah in particular) picked up on some of those things. And I'm not sure how useful it was, as it mostly led to me feeling pretty bad about Soah's intentions until he died - after rereading on n1 I felt like he was bussing foolishness a good % of the time, and I think that was a pretty stupid read to make. Like, I sent the mod a PM with a guess of the wolf team on n1 and it ended up being 4/6 I think, but one of those 6 was Soah and objectively I think that's a pretty big leak. Anyway I also professed to having very little confidence in those reads, and they changed a bit on future days :P

I think the other big mistake I made was w/r/t chrja - I didn't want to go crazy trying to lynch him so I could shoot him at night without getting too much attention from the wolves, but I did want consensus to begin shifting in his direction. But my execution of that idea was pretty flawed and I felt like I'd be the only one in the game on n1 or n2 to have shot chrja, so I kept holding off on him until a later opportunity.

Anyway, was definitely an interesting and fun experience, I can def see the appeal of randing village PR now :P

I don't think scum knew you were vig or even town PR, they probably offed you because you were a very active townie without much lynch potential, and posed a threat to them. That's usually how the night kills at that early stage work. The 4 scum kills for the first two days were soah, askthepizzaguy, and us. So clearly there's something in common there.

Agreed, I think I was weird enough on d1 to be considered mislynchable but I took a far more active role in proceedings on day 2. At least in my own mind I did :P

With the seer gone d1, there was very little to go after, so yes binkels got killed for being a strong villager, and a possible powerrole seeing as we hadn't peeked him.

Turns out I got a full house of Cyan, Mango, and AP attacking me for dumb reasons.

Should've pursued that one ;P

yeah, I went along with 2 lynches who I thought were town.

That was really really stupid, and I just lacked confidence to push what i knew was right. traz reminding me i'd been wrong earlier in the game didn't help with that :x

Mm. I played averagely, which given my circumstances was pretty well done of me. See, I spent much of the game in an area with no connection and no phone coverage, only being able to read or post during the times we went outside to do work or to eat, and even then only on my phone. I did get a laptop internet connection a couple times, however, for a few hours at a time.

This meant that, combined with the unfamiliar environment, unfamiliar role and unfamiliar players, I was very slow in reacting, responding and figuring things out. After seeing my role I kind of felt that I'd need to at least survive to N5 to get the most use out of my role, so I tried to leverage the fact that I was going to be pretty inactive no matter what to make myself seem /somewhat/ towny but not über-towny as to get killed. Not that I had much chance at that last one anyway. It seems that people here put much more stock into number of posts as opposed to content of posts than what I'm used to. Like, it makes you more towny to split your five-page essay into single paragraphs and post them separately. Where I play, there's a rule against doubleposting (which is relaxed in games a bit, but editing is allowed) and I prefer condensing anyway.

I have to admit that my scans were horrible. I didn't get any real information out, and the Foolishness check was just a stupid move in general. That's what happens when you're in a hurry, can't think and want to play it safe because you believe Town is in a very good position.

On the opposite hand, the much-criticized decision not to CC Fool immediately felt to me like one of my high points in the game. I read the situation correctly from the Maf angle and decided that there was /no way/ Mango was Town. And even if I was wrong in this for some reason, it'd mean Fool would be lynched the following day with no need for my claim. Losing one Town for one Maf without me needing to step up would've been great. But again, I was supremely confident that Maf would never go for trading 1:1 in such a situation for seemingly no reason, whereas Maf bussing one of their own to get a 'confirmed' Seer in the thread was, while not optimal play, acceptable. It's nowhere near as bad play as people are calling it in hindsight, after it failed. Sure, it guarantees Maf deaths, but the opportunity for Fool would've been to cause a ML or two easy, and on the third day he could claim a guilty on someone, get a probable third ML. That would've been a lot of dead Town for a couple Maf and more importantly easy opportunities for WIFOMing and other Maf to hide in the cracks, well aware beforehand of what was going to happen in the next couple days. Which is exactly what AP did.

Damn, AP played well. Even when I knew post-death that one of DGB and AP was scum, having already suspected it while I was alive, I picked DGB over AP.

Don't ever let fear paralyze you. Mistrust in your own skills is in my opinion the number one reason why a lot games get lost. You played good, but look, I pretty much led on the full role seer D1, and yes I was upset with it, but I wasn't going to let it affect me. I made the right D1 decision, just got the wrong result. I lynched in the inactives pool and hit one of the few townies in it. With MNOWAX/Anstonio off the ballot it kinda made it easier for me. Despite my bad D1 I pretty much chose the D2 lynch, I took that into my own hands. Not trying to take any kind of credit but you need to trust yourself more. You played a great game otherwise.

Also Murska you checking Fool was the right play, if you found him town then with 4 - 5 confirmed townies at that point it'd be basically gg and nothing the scum can do.

Wow, What a game, First thanks to all the Mods for taking the time to create and promote this game.
second, at 4800+ posts, this was by far the longest game i've been through in terms of posts( i was a part of the Kingmaker II game that lasted over a year on MS, and that one was only 3000 posts! )

It sucks the scum prevailed. GG to all. I have some thoughts about the game itself that i'll hold off until i get home from work tonight.

This game took a lot of time to organize, but I definitely felt it was worthwhile. It was truly a unique game and an interesting experiment in culture clashes. I hope maybe some of you even feel like you learned something from participating in this game.

Mostly though, I hope that you enjoyed the game and I hope that some of you would consider participating in a similar game again, because some of you will in fact be invited back for an Ultimate Champions Game, featuring the best of the best from each of the 5 Games of Mafia Champions that will be run. Yes, you heard right, this was only the first game in a series.

So that brings me to this...

Please send me a PM with your votes for the following categories:
  • The Mafia MVP
  • The Town MVP
  • The Best Player (send in a ranked top 3 for this one)
  • The player most feared by the mafia team (this is only for the mafia team who I want to send me a collective ranked list of the two villagers they feared and respected the most, 1 and 2)

To be clear, the Best Player award is different from the MVP award in that the player(s) that you're voting don't have to have actually had a great positive impact on the game, rather they just need to have shown you qualities in this game that convinced you that they are the best player(s).

The results of this vote will have a great impact on who gets an invite to play in the Ultimate Champions Game.

I thought it was weird that no one was trying to lynch the UNLYNCHABLE UNIVERSAL TOWN READ BULLETPROOF. I would have expected the scum, if it wasn't AP, to try to lynch AP.

No one took the bite, I didn't want to be the one pushing it, haha. Because that would have made me the scum!

Well this was a fun game, thanks to the memorable Mango/Foolishness scum sheninagans.
