Explain to me how saying "this post struck me" is, in your words here, pretty clearly stating that I found that post suspicious. Unless you and I have a different understanding of the english language, it was not pretty clear in the slightest.

May I ask at what stage you are likely to find things that you can consciously point out as scummy/scum then, sir?

P.S. don't explain it to me, it's pointless, lol.

P.P.S my post above was supposed to say content : post ratio, but the smiley curse ruined my day

You don't have to unvote, you just have to bold my name, and all the unvoting and revoting will be done for you, fyi

And of course I'm lurking, I've been writing an essay and reading financial reports all day, you didn't think I'd be focusing on that while sitting at a computer did you? :P

While lurking is, again, a reasonable tell as far as these things go, we're also a few hours into day 1 of a slow game with a post restriction. If I wasn't lurking I might be close to 100 already :P

Thanks for the information about proper formatting.

You say that you've been busy doing such and such, real life and whatnot, and far be it for me to question your real life taking you away from this game.

My main point is that it has not taken you away from this game or caused you to post any less than anyone else has, really, because you're still one of the top posters for this round, and have been active more than once in a day with multiple posts. Worse, you've been reading the thread as it updates, and responding when people mention you as a suspect.

That indicates to me, for a fact, that you are at your computer and are reading the game, and what gives you an incentive to post is any threat made against your continued survival, not finding scum.

If you've got time to read the game, you've got time to form an opinion. If you've got time to post the way you have, you've got time to give a reason, any reason, for your votes.

Your IRL explanation for your lack of substance is contradicted by your continued presence in the game, and your response times to being prodded.

You're sitting back and doing nothing unless it concerns you personally, which might be just a coincidence, but it looks exactly like a scum lurking actively, and using RL as an excuse for not posting more.

I can appreciate that it could look worse than it is, but I don't accept your explanations at this time.

You are sitting at a computer and reading this game. You've either got to play it, or you can't use the excuse that you're busy. You aren't too busy to read the game, so you're not too busy to play it.

With due respect, I reject your explanation out of hand. You need to start finding scum or looking like you're trying to, and your being busy needs to actually start affecting whether you're here reading the game or not for me to buy that as a valid excuse.

I'm not too worried about a 100 post post restriction. I'm concerned about playing the game while I'm here reading it.

I don't have a wiki page anywhere, and I've been in too many games at this point for me to find them all.

Here's my most recent attempt to calculate my scum record.

the last time someone updated the database at my native forum was like two or three years ago at this point. And it's only one of several forums I've been on.

My town record is around 50%, but where I come from, town only wins about half its games anyway. It's a team effort. Individual win percentages can be quite misleading- many folks signed up to a lot of games that happened to win as town, and simply went inactive, inflating their win percentage to make it seem like they're useful townies when they're not.

Well like I said above, I'm in the midst of re-reading the thread and putting together some thoughts on as many people as I can. I expect to be done in less than half an hour, and hopefully you'll still be around and we can discuss some things.

I guess all I've been trying to say is there's no need to give me an ultimatum about my activity or lurky behaviour - I expect my posts and overall activity to stand on their own merits for the duration of the game. Imo your vote was fine given the circumstances, imo your vote is still fine, hopefully you'll think it won't be fine in about 30 minutes :P

Speaking of, I better go make up some reads finish re-reading and writing

---

Thanks Nana, I'll give it a look later hopefully. I was hoping you had wolfed in a turbo here because I'm much more familiar with the format (I assume :P ) and I'd expect differences given the different environment. Not to worry though, I'm sure it'll be a good source of info. They didn't vote me #1 just because I'm a pretty face - I also bribed half the forum

I guess I won't explain then. Misunderstandings happen, I just honestly expected it to be clear from that wording. As for when I might find concrete, consciously rationally explainable suspicions, I expect some combination of time and people actually posting something suspicious enough.

I do this when I'm scum, which is frequently admit to being scum as if I were joking, except the joke is I'm not joking, which makes it funnier than if I were joking.

So, you do win pizza points for doing it here. I've made the mental note that you're at least a fun scumbag to have around, even if you are a scumbag. Which you totally just admitted to being, as if it were a joke.

Hey, neat smileys!

Okay, I still have over 70 posts remaining this round, and I've already found two scumbags.

Maybe I should take a break for a while, and ride around in my awesome delivery vehicle. It comes with its own oven in the back, so your pizza is guaranteed to be toasty.

Pizza, you're right, I do that sorta thing as scum. I also do it as town. I'm a bit of a troll :P

Anyways

Awesome Reads of Awesome that I don't feel all that great about if I'm being totally honest here

Nothing within the categories is ordered really

Villagery:
Nana - showing a pretty decent level of inquisitiveness into most topics right now - if she's a villager I expect this read (and this behaviour) to get stronger as the game continues, particularly the ability to juggle a few things at once in high leverage situations once they appear. More just a mental note than anything.

Weareking - I'm enjoying his apparent desire to push and prod at people, and I think he's similarly doing a pretty good job of driving discussion right now. The back/forth with pizza about fank was

TaylorFitz - Has drawn some attention in a villagery way, I don't really think any extra info has come through in his posts to this point. I'm not particularly compelled by Soah's "why didn't you wait longer with your trap" line of thought (~#120) in and of itself because it wasn't really a trap, although Taylor sort of saying that it was is a little alarming, given it's something where scum and town alike are probably going to push. That may have been more what Soah was thinking about, now that I think about it :P After re-reading page 2 I feel like he's a pretty likely villager.

Mastin2 - He's doing a good job of keeping track of what's happening in the thread and also leading discussion/pushing people in a confident manner. I like his push on fank having read through it again, and I can see where he's coming from (particularly the difference in his posts and what one would expect from his bio) even if I don't entirely agree with it. I would like an explanation re: #114 though as it doesn't really look like goofball's reads list matches yours (having weareking as scummy, for example, seems pretty non-consensus and not something you brought up?)

Askthepizzaguy - Has been posting well and making good points. Not a whole lot I disagree with. I am sort of surprised he's been at me for lurking when fank has done pretty similar things on page 2. Granted his posts weren't just based around self-defense, but they were all things that were pretty easy to talk about...I should probably put this stuff in fank's section :P

Marvellosity - I've liked what he's brought to the table thus far in terms of both reads and approach to the game.

Dunno:

Soah - We'll see

AngryPidgeon: - I like the way you're approaching the game but I have a few concerns. One is kinda secret, but the other one is in #119, you say that it would have been easy for weareking to attack Athexx for fluffing. But Athexx's post wasn't fluff, it was highly game-related. It was mechanics talk rather than a bunch of reads, so this could just be a different terminology/interpretation thing, but I'd never consider Athexx's post to be anything close to fluff. Actually, a second question, on the same topic. You don't think if weareking is a wolf and athexx is town he'd quite possibly feel the need to call Athexx town for the 'borderline angleshoot'? In my experience scum often feel pressured to clear townies who do stuff like that. Also please note I'm not calling weareking wolfy, just throwing some hypotheticals out there :P I'm kinda surprised at your reason for finding him likely town is all.

Athexx - I like the level of thought put into his first post even though it wasn't based on making reads or anything. That said, they're also pretty legit questions for a wolf to have :P

Meh:

Verbal - It's odd to me that, firstly, he was willing to apparently begin a conversation with Nana ("peachy, you?") yet he only made the two posts and then stopped posting. The other thing is the fact that he got "ninja'd" on his response. Nana's post was at :39 and then the next post was at :44, Verbal's post was at :47. If he was ninja'd here then presumably the post at :44 wasn't there when he began replying. If all these assumptions are correct, then it took my at least three minutes to write 'peachy, you?'. In and of itself it's not a smoking gun, but generally wolves/scum are going to be more prone to being cautious in terms of writing and rewriting their posts. The one thing that doesn't really mesh with this is that if he was this cautious he probably would have hit preview and noticed the posts in between Nana's and his reply. But that's okay, hopefully we can read him on the merit of his posting sooner rather than later

DrippingGoofball - I'm enjoying the tone but I hope to see more explanation on those reads. Particularly why weareking is scummy, particularly why you felt it was relevant that he and taylor can't both be scum (and why you felt it was worth sharing) and particularly why you chose to vote for Fitz over Weareking.

Fank009 - I'm struggling a little with the language barrier I think. I didn't much like his opening, particularly the vote on Fitz (and calling him scummy) whilst apparently agreeing with weareking that it was a null tell. That said I think #91 is villagery, for reasons similar to Pizzaguy, it seems an odd way to word a post or think about things as scum, even with language issues :P I don't like his page 2 much either, mostly in that it really only focuses on Fitz and nobody else, I'd like to see a few more topics discussed from 009.

Murska - I really didn't like #124 (in which Nana's post, that had been pointed out by like three other posters, was pointed out as a post that others hadn't pointed out), mastin did a good job pointing it out at the time and I'm not fond of the explanation either. If your phone is bad for code I'd expect a little bit more encouragement for others to vote/push her a little bit. I hope Murska's thoughts expand from here because they don't seem particularly, err, encompassing at this point.

Wolfy:

Giga13 - I think coming in, apologising, and then figuring that notes are a good idea isn't a particularly villagery progression when there's no apparent followup. Anyway it's a slow game, so there's plenty of time for that follow up to happen.

Cyan: - I'd be interesting in Mastin's (and Soah's?) developing thoughts on him, given I'm with pizzaguy in that his post is a really odd one to make in isolation and pretty easy for a scum to make. The only real reason I can see for finding this villagery of Cyan is if you think he wouldn't make that post as scum with Fitz also being scum, and you're also confident that Fitz is scum.

Fwiw I think the 'meh' category is actually much more interesting/quite possibly more scummy than the 'wolfy' category but I can't be bothered to fix everything around right now, I had a deadline to try and keep yo :P

The last sentence in the second quote, looks a lot like you admitting to being wolf.

You are moving up my suspect list.

I guess if I were to fix everything around I'd bump Verbal and Murska down a category and things would look accurate ish

There are a few people I didn't make a read on like Devourer because I couldn't be bothered to put them in the "I dunno" category - Soah gets a special place though

However Anstonio should be in the meh/wolfy category I think

@ binkles - the mutually exclusive read was because one called the other firmly town early in the game. Scum doesn't do that. Then weareking dropped a townish tell. In any event weareking dropped more town tells so he's town now.

This post is very suspicious to me. I can't wrap my head around what the townie way of thinking is here - I attacked Murska, so he puts us both in the scummier category?

Unexplained lists are bad enough, unexplained lists that make no sense are verging on should-be-killed-with-fire.
