i might take one more student this month since it looks like there is no action. i would want a 60/40 staking agreement in my favor for the rest of the month/40k hands, whichever comes later. This time around, I would want tons of references and a good graph/chart to show that you are a winning player. it'd be best if you were a FTP player w/ tableratings so I can verify. I will take one more student, and it will hopefully be somebody struggling at 2/4 or 3/6. pm me this info if interested. also keep in mind there will be some days i just won't have time due to school.

keep in mind that the point of this is to see you succeed with no risk. nothing would make me happier than seeing my students do well and beat limits they were unable to before.

Maybe this isn't the right place for it, but is the stars benefit program any good for 50nl and 100nl hu? The game selection on UB is abysmal and even the fish are extremely aggressive. I played on stars a while ago in like may but it wasn't many hands and I never really studied the bonus program.

I already read the thing in the 2p2 magazine, just give me your first hand accounts of low stakes hu on stars.

serious question for cftw.

out of curiousity what is the biggest downswing you have had in your poker career in $ and # of buyins?

cftw could do ''in the well'. what you guys think about it?

cftw, i remember i asked you about this and you said something like this "i am not good enough for doing this" . but you would do this if people want?

Boy, i had a 40 buyin downer at 2/4 once, which made me quit poker for a few months. I was seriously down to like 3000 dollars a few months ago (had cashed ~30k at the time but no way to redeposit). Check out my tableratings and you'll see my time at FTP. It's hard to see now, but I was up to 28k on tableratings and then dropped down to 6k. As you can imagine, it was incredibly hard to stomach.

I just finished a 50k downswing and am recovering decently well, but it really made me look long and hard at myself and my game. I realize it's important to listen to my elders and understand the importance of not getting too full of myself and challenging people when it's very -EV. At the end of the day, nobody gives a **** who beat who HU--it's who won the most money over a large sample.

I understand I have run very well and am thankful for that; I also understand I am by no means a good poker player, which is why I am refusing to charge an hourly. I think staking is a great way to reflect my abilities as a coach, and at the very least I can prove to my students how dedicated I will be to making them good, solid winners.

I am very thankful for the people I have crossed in my poker career, most notably Krmont22 by far. Without him, I go broke 10 months ago and probably never touch poker for the rest of my life. I don't necessarily believe in Karma itself, but I do believe in the kind acts it promotes. As most of my friends will attest, I am usually very generous with my money when it comes to helping others, and I will utilize my poker knowledge to do the same. I try to reply to every PM about content that is sent to me, no matter what limit as long as the question is not a troll question.

I get out of hand sometimes in chat, but it's just me having fun to keep me sane while grinding. I really mean no offense to anybody, but I just don't have the ability to really grind like the true sickos out there (Nemoindenial comes to mind for how many hands he is putting in right now).

I hope this answered your question and the undertones that might have gone with it.

I would definitely do a well if people wanted me to, but I honestly do not think I have the talent or the proven track record do such a thing as of now.

Good response--this game can be very humbling and as someone who has built and busted a couple of 6 figure rolls it is just interesting to see someone rise in limits and (seemingly) never lose. I think you are just generally very happy and excited at the way things are going-as you should be-however sometimes it comes off as bragging and rubs people the wrong way. For some of us who have thoroughly experienced the ups and downs of poker, your naivete at times can be humorous but I hope you continue to do well and can avoid the soulcrushing pitfalls and downswings that have plagued myself and others.

Fwiw, I share(d) your sentiments jsnipes... cftw and I have chatted, and he's a very humble, very smart guy. I definitely think he needs to hear the above type comments as much as possible though, because he's getting equal pressure to play higher.

But seriously cftw, jsnipes and I have absolutely been through the ringer (along with other more silent HU forum members), HU is the most humbling game possible. I know I developed a bit of an ego back in the day, and it takes a lot of money lost to get rid of. Try to bypass that step.

Krmont calling me an idiot everyday and asking how I can think like such a fundamentally unsound moron after every hand just might do the trick .

Minor confession LJ--I had similar sentiments about your seemingly endless rungood before you went on your massive downer earlier this year. Downswing badge of honor ftw

heh me too. but i think i may have mentioned it a couple times before.

I went thru a couple miserable 30-40 buyin swings a few months ago and i wasn't fun.

Things are going well for me these days, but at 4k hands a month the money doesn't really add up.

lol i take it back - 4400 hands = $14k these days

haha I'm sure you weren't alone.

I've never had a massive downer actually. I lost 22k in one day at 10/20 and calculated 25/50 shots vs a megafish. I've ran scores of BIs below equity though (60+ conservatively), and made like 20k over 100k hands as essentially break even.

EDIT: Also, my online roll at the time was 130. I was the biggest BR nit ever. I think one of my greatest attributes has been my ability to move down, and quickly. I seriously waited to have 100 BIs before playing 5/10 regularly, I started taking shots with like 75 BIs lol.

Even in the beginning of the year I really wasn't running extraordinarily well. I should keep a log of how many times I suckout for stacks after an AI, it's so ridiculously low. Had one yesterday where my 77 > KK though. Felt good!

But that said, at the beginning of the year I certainly did not know what running extremely bad felt like. I've been reminded a few times since then.

oh, btw, if any of you big ballas playing 5/10+ wanna mess around, i'm always willing to 4 table anyone at 2/4-3/6 to get some action.

Unfortunately you cannot take me up on this until after sunday as it is my birthday weekend soon and I will not be sober very often.
