pretty interesting. I'm exactly the opposite.

its a whole learning process that i need to acquire in order to obtain what i desire.
i think its the same as going to med school in order to become a doctor, law school to become a lawyer, engineer, nurse, vet, whatever!

it takes years of learning and practice.

i never really liked school anyways. i always liked sports, games and competition. im also open minded and i like philosophy. one thing about myself is that i dont like to be bossed around or assigned to something. i dont want to be stuck somewhere in a uniform where i have no idea how long ill be able to support it.

i want to be my own boss. i want to work when i want to. i want to get up in the morning and go to work in my pyjamas.

and someday when ill have kids, i want to be around them so ill be able to raise them in a good manner. not like someone whos always away on jobs working day and night.

i say this because it wasnt that case for me. and life for me was not as easy as most of you here so... to be able to make a substantial amount of monies playing poker is my dream and i know this because i have never dreamed of anything before. because a lot of things i considered in life were just not in my range, they were not possibilites for me

my only escape was college and i did not have the monies nor did my parents. now tho, i have this. and im going all out for it

wish me luck.
Yea, I come from a poorer background as well, so I feel ya. Best of luck!!!

Yea, the isolation is the hardest to deal w/ imo.

I am glad you have found something you enjoy doing. Best of luck!

don't get a coach. it will stunt your growth. just play everyone and learn from your big losses and players that give you trouble.

Of course, he still might be right, but that would just be a coincidence.
fwiw i played around 40k hands of 1/2, around 70-80% of that was vs regs, including a bunch of people who play 2/4+

that's a really dumb statement. coaching made me move up way faster than I would have without coaching and if it worked for me it is likely that it would work for other people.

guys like durr, ivey, isildur, cole south, raptor, jungleman (iirc) etc etc would tend to disagree. your post is a bit short sigghted. you're not considering the long term, and the the alternative. i say this because most coaches are pretty poor, and don't teach you to really think about poker well (but more so just beat a particular game)

All of those guys essentially had coaches. They all had very close friends who played and thought about poker on a very high level. They didn't have to pay for the help but they certainly used all the sources they had available to them.

The people who really need coaches are those who do not have high stakes friends to talk over hands/situations etc.

Guys, quick checkup? Opp is 3betting 16%, craising 22% (he was opening 22% and defending 22% aswell). I have seen him flatting small pps, so I guess he's not 3betting them. Generally, he's waaay passive.

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.50(BB) Poker Stars
($63.60)
Hero ($88.55)

Dealt to Hero A Q

Hero raises to $1.50, calls $1

FLOP ($3) J 5 4

checks, Hero bets $2, raises to $6,

Hero calls $4

TURN ($15) J 5 4 Q

bets $12, Hero calls $12

RIVER ($39) J 5 4 Q Q

[color=red]bets $44.10 (AI), Hero calls rather quickly, cause opp is kinda only repping 55 and 44 and does this:

or gives the guy credit and walks away like this?

I mean I know he's repping such a narrow range here it would be ridiculous to fold against a random guy, but when he's opening 22% and being really fit or fold/passive can we ever find a fold here or am I just being dumb?

I did the hh so someone would read it, pretty cool hhs before, so gotta fit in.
