Wow rly? That much on a zoom table with constant action?? U must be running very good no? I guess its a small sample as well ofc but damn if we can sustain 5-10bb/100 on these tables at 50/100NL it would be a goldmine

Btw does it take like rly long time till u get stats on ur opponents say 50+ hands or does it go pretty fast?

Yes it is a goldmine if u get constant action on zoom tables and turn a profit of 5-10bb/100

Lets say u win for 7bb/100 on NL100 thats 7$ per 100 hands and on 2 or more zoom HU tbls u should be getting at least 500(prob more) hands/ hour and 7*5=35 so u will earn $35/hour. If thats not a goldmine from grinding nl100 then u must either be ignorant and dumb or have a 6 figure job (which i highly doubt).

Many nl100 6max grinders make more than that just from rakeback.

It's not bad, but not exactly a gold mine imo. It's basically comparable to minimum wage jobs, but with worse job security.

edit: Although as a hobby I think it's awesome if you enjoy playing. You're playing a game on your computer and making significant amount of money out of it. It's just as a fulltime job the current situation of online poker looks quite grim. $35/hr from nl100 would've been considered very bad not too many years ago.

All this is kinda off topic but, I'm just gona assume you have played poker as your source of income throughout life, and therefore just assume normal job life is similar. What minimum wage job on planet earth pays $35/hour? Also minimum wage jobs have very little job security as if you step out of line its very easy to find another minion to work the hours for the same price.

All this being said without including, by choosing pokerz as your income youre your own boss etc.

Its definitely not a gold mine, but Massively better than a minimum wage job.

This. I've never gotten the job security argument against playing poker. Can any of these people name one single job anywhere where your job security is higher than playing poker? You can't get fired. It's impossible. Unless you get Alzheimer's or have a stroke you're not going to get worse. After that you're just talking about systemic risk in the industry itself, well all industries have that especially today. I mean farming corn in Iowa is insanely risky in today's economy ffs not even mentioning what your situation is as a drive thru operator at McDonald's.

Don't know where ppl are from here, but here in Norway it's like this when you are hired by the goverment/state. No matter how many ****ups you do or how unproductive you are. At least for now when we (they) are printing Money due to the oil. Will be interessting to see how it gets when the oil runs out.

edit: and 1mill out of a total population of 5 million ppl here are "hired" by the state, so no small amout we are talking about either (at least from our point of view).

Re: HEADS UP ZOOM

I'd think that overall job security is better than service industry type stuff, but lower than white collar.

I have the shortest of "career experience" but this doesn't seem right to me. Your game can definitely fall off as with any sports/games pro, even more really. Especially if you play a high variance game.

Re: HEADS UP ZOOM

purretrog,
actually quite the contrary. I've been working random minimum wage jobs or studying for pretty much all of the last 7 years. You can't just compare hourly, since poker for most winning players isn't just grinding, it also includes stuff like studying, reviewing hands, arguing about stupid things on 2+2 etc. Besides, grinding 40 hours a week is much more mentally taxing than working in some random job. It's easy to work 160 hours/month, but how many of us can realistically play our A game for 160 hours a month? fwiw my current avg hourly in a minimum wage job is around 16€/hr ($21.7), although it includes a lot of night and weekend hours which pay quite good extras. If you included paid holidays etc, that'd probably be over $25/hr. Include other advantages like pension and it probably becomes >$30/hr.

Poker also offers no paid sick leaves or vacations, pension or anything like that and there's pretty much zero safety net if legislation changes or for some other reason you can't play anymore. At least working minimum wage job (I know it's not as good in every country) you'll get 500 paid days from union if you become unemployed so you're at least better off than on welfare. You gotta take that into consideration when thinking about job security. Online poker will most likely not be around or at least profitable 10 years from now, what are you gonna do then if you have no education and no work experience? Who's gonna hire you? It's hard to explain to your future employers why you "haven't done anything" in last 5 years if you've grinded smallstakes to just barely make a living.

Don't get me wrong, I think poker is an awesome opportunity to make some "easy money" as a hobby or part time job even if you're like me and just barely beating smallstakes, but even considering playing for a profession is very bad idea for almost everyone who isn't at least crushing midstakes and lives in a first world country. Especially if they're gonna drop out of school or something for that.

I just feel like in 10 years there's gonna be tons of "ex poker professionals" struggling to make a living, just because they dropped out of school because they could at some point make $3k/month. I feel like I'm already starting to see it, looking at my friends who used to play smallstakes ~5 years ago and nowadays can't beat the games anymore (at least for same hourly)

Quick question about HU (Zoom and Regular). Why isn't there HU at NL25/NL10?

Why so hateful?

Simply have fun mining that gold in nl50 and nl100 zoom.

You should be happy.
