So I guess I should prolly keep on playing FR and 6max until I feel comfortable to jump in 50NL and 100NL HU games.

would probably continue playing your games until 100NL actually. If you want to try the no blind increase HU sngs thats as close to actual HU cash u will come and rake isnt near as bad there

I was wondering about this. I've been playing the non-turbo sng's to get some HU experience. So far it's pretty rare that a match ever gets beyond the second level blinds so I've been playing the regular sngs instead of the no blind increase since the player pool seems much larger. Reasonable?

Any thoughts on using the sngs to freeroll shots at 50NL? Basically, I've been banging out the sngs until I have 50bb of profit then hitting the 50NL. I play until I hit my hand quote and stop loss at the 50bb. The next time I want to play HU instead of FR, I start over ... i.e., I have to earn the buy-in regardless of prior wr. I thought this would let me indulge my degen love of HU without endangering my FR roll.

well i mean i use to play a ton of HU sngs and I liked the non turbos because the no blind increase took forever but the non turbos arent really like cash that much at all and the no blind increase is similar

What's the main difference in playstyle between HU cash and HU SNGs? I know the blinds remain the same and you can always buy back - so does this just correlate to only stacking people with monster hands, etc?

There is alot more play involved in HU cash with always deeper stacks. Usually HU cash always at least 100 bb deep where HU sngs only start with like 75 bb stacks and stacks decline pretty fast in relation to bbs. HU sngs usually end in more flips and just shoving 10 bb stacks

Noob question for the noob thread: So I have just 4-5k hands of HU so far and am running at about break-even ... when I am not bumhunting short-stackers that is. The shorties on Stars 50 HU seem universally lol-bad ... good for offsetting losses at the end of a session, but not much of a learning experience. Anyway, while I'd rather be raking it, I am happy enough not to be losing my shirt while I am still learning.

Twice in the last few sessions in the first 100-150 hands of a match I have been up 2-3 BI against a better player (either somewhat better or much better). I have no intention of hnr but the deeper the stacks, the less comfortable I am. So how long do you sit in? Should I just sit long enough to satisfy etiquette and then safeguard the winnings or do people think I should sit tight and try to own the table for the learning experience? I know this is going to boil down to personal preference, so I think any responders should go with the principle of maximizing learning while not destroying my BR.

How many hands would I expect to play in a year, playing 2 tables of HU cash 4-5 times a week for around 2-3 hours?

Around 200k averaging 175 hands/hour per table.

Spoiler:
2*175*4.5*2.5*52...not entirely sure if this wasn't a level. Or you don't understand basic math....

Hey guys I searched the forums but wasn't able to find the answer to this question: Yesterday I tried to sit at 2 empty tables of HU cash 100NL and stars said that my limit on sitting at # of HU tables is 1. Is this something new, or is this only for me? Thank you.

your only allowed to sit 1 empty table per stake. you can sit a 20-50bb table and a 40-100bb table but not 2 of the same ones

I recently staked a husng reg (avg. bi $88 roi 5% over 4-5k game sample) for 20nl hu to try switching. He initially won 5 bi, but I watched a vid of his where he played pretty terribly and I predicted he would be having trouble soon. He constantly did moves without rhyme nor reason like c/c tp no draw on a monotone board and then donk the 4flush turn. He then went on a 15 bi downswing over 4k hands at 20nl, all vs. fish. I've had him doing EV calcs, analyzing hands, and watching vids as he seems like a smart guy (has experience in abstract mathematics, + was a winner at husng) and I'm hoping I can turn him into a winner. He is also willing to drop down to 10nl. Anyone have any suggestions? Do you think it's just a matter of time before someone with his background 'gets' it?
