Hello! New lurker here.
A few weeks ago I posted this on the poker subreddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/poker/comme..._bad_opponent/

I liked what response I got there and I appreciate the people who's taking their time to answer questions.
Now I wanted to share and ventilate the result after our fourth heads up cash-game: I busted out again (for the fourth out of four times).

I am not at all saying I am a good player. However I am pretty confident that I am better than my friend(which is the reason I've kept playing against him). But the results are definitely getting to me, and I'm starting to doubt myself. I also am very unexperienced in the heads up format.

This session I busted out after about 10-12 hands, 5 of which had pretty much action. I feel kind off weird looking at how I played now afterwards. I feel like I should've be betting a lot smaller. Im trying to justify my "agressive" calling with how random the villain can be. Here are the major hands:

Hero Q4o on bb
Villain opens 2.5bb
Hero calls
Flop 6T4 rainbow
Hero checks
Villain bets 1/2 pot
Hero calls
Turn A
Hero checks
Villain bets 1/2 pot
Hero folds
Villain shows 23o

Hero K4o on BTN
Opens to 2.5bb
Villain calls
Flop T95
Villain checks
Hero bets 1/2 pot
Villain calls
Turn J
Villain bets 2/3 pot
Hero folds
Villain shows Q8

Hero 43s on BTN
Opens 2.5bb
Villain calls
Flop 567 rainbow
Villain checks
Hero bets 1/2 pot
Villain calls
Turn 8
Villain checks
Hero bets 1/2 pot
Villain calls
River 9
Villain checks
Hero bets 1/3 pot (probably dumb bluff but figured he's bad enough to fold many hands and we'll split almost every time he calls)
Villain CALLS and shows T9s(!!)

Hero Q2s
Villain opens 2.5bb
Hero calls
Flop 245 rainbow
Hero checks
Villain bets 1/2 pot
Hero calls
Turn 8
Hero checks
Villain bets 1/2 pot
Hero calls
River 9
Villain bets 1/2 pot
Hero calls
Villain shows 92o

(Steaming at this point)
Hero QJo on BTN (Only about 35bb behind at this point vs 165bb)
Opens to 2.5bb
Villain raises to 6bb
Hero re-raises 14bb
Villain calls
Flop KT5
Villain checks
Hero checks
Turn J
Villain checks
Hero shoves
Villain calls and shows KJo
River K

I guess the point with the post (except letting off steam) is to ask: Is the variance big enough that I have been unlucky four sessions in a row, or should I seriously start believing he's the better player and not play him until I have become better? Because I still do believe I am playing better than him and I want to keep playing against him.

If you dont have a significate edge over him, then its probably -EV to play him as u might not beat the rake. Variance does happen but i can imagine from ur hand history u have more to work on then the variance
