In general he hasn't bluffed much but assume villain is good and capable of anything.

The mistake is letting yourself get into this situation. IMO folding the turn would be better than calling. You’re not getting good odds on a call and your opponents range is really narrowed down after check raising to KQ,AQ,Q10 or he could be playing a draw like JQ or a flush draw like this. You said he hasn’t really been bluffing either and he rarely is in this scenario so I think folding is fine. The river is a clear fold since you’re only beating bluffs which he probably doesn’t have.
Also what do you think of just checking back on the flop? I know it seems standard to just cbet there but what better hands are gonna call there? And getting checkraiaed with a draw like that with mid pair puts you in an awkward position.
I'm not agree with you. You have 2P+FD. When he bets 20bb in 30bb it will be like that: 20/70= 28% equity required to call. JT its enough to win mostly of the times. And also imo this hand is bad to call just because u bloking part of their bluff, but in River depend of the villain you can also call without diamond. Can you think how many strong hands plays like: B-B-B? J9, some AA (50%) AJ (50% or less) KQ, 55, TT, QT, and its done. Total combos value: 41 +/-.
This hand doesn't really seem close on the river. It's such a huge overbet, you have the jack of diamonds which you want your opponent to have, you have so many better hands including straights like J9 of diamonds and AJ of diamonds, sets, two pairs (especially with the king on the river completing so many KT and KQ.) even king high flush draws made top pair. To truly understand how low in your distribution you are, keep in mind that you're not even going to call a ten on the turn without a flush draw so you almost always have a queen or better.
I think Gomithomie brings up a good point about checking flop back. I would check flop to protect your checking range and because your hand plays so nicely on later streets
In game I did fold because it seems obvious fold, plus I didn't like holding diamonds especially the Jd. Plus KQ beats me not just J9 and It's not impossible he bluffs with better by the river.
I only tanked as It really seemed like he was trying to get me to fold. Turns out he had Jc8d for a solid bluff
I don't mind mixing some checks to balance my checking range and the hand does play well on later streets. But I was playing aggressive and think cbeting is mostly the play here
