Bovada 5NL

Hero UTG $5.29
SB $4.95
BB $21.50

Hero has A5

Hero raises 0.15, fold fold, fold, SB calls 0.13, BB calls 0.10.

FLOP (0.45):
A83

SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets 0.22, SB calls 0.22, BB folds.

TURN (0.99):
A

Hero bets 0.45, SB calls 0.45

RIVER (1.89):

5

Hero is All-in for 3.60

Thoughts? Obviously diamond draw is folding. Not much villain can call with other than Ax or a strangely played set. Thoughts were if they were calling any bet on river (minus something ridiculously low) they're probably calling a shove.

I'm probably checking the flop vs 2 players.

Turn bet should be a bigger or check. Half pot doesn't really make sense for our range since we mostly have ax or a draw.

I like a river check over a bet. I think he always bets his ax and probably doesn't call much else. Need him to have a chance to bluff his missed diamonds.

Crap I mistyped that. I am in position, so I am not going to check on the river. SB checked it to me

I debated checking the flop, but being in position, I would rather take control of that hand if possible. If I got called, then plan was to slow down most likely unless I rivered my straight or hit a 5.

Yup I misread it, shove river is best.

"Taking control" on the flop is a fake thing that doesn't mean anything. We have a hand that will want to play a small pot most of the time. We bet and get called by hands that either dominate us or have a big chunk of equity.

Yeah, I think I may have just gotten antsy and was in position so I felt like I could bet the flop there. The run out ended up working for me but obviously only value we're getting is from the few combos of a FD.
