Whether we are able to push legislation through now, in the near future, or further down the line, it's important to ensure we have as many Reps. and Senators on our side as possible. We also need to make sure we have the votes(Barton claims we do) when the crucial vote does come. Remember, these reps & Senators could influence your state opting out as well.

Here is where each rep/senator stands ATM:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...WFlMWx3OUpkSXc

Here is a breakdown which will automatically update when we find out where they stand. Keep in mind this is somewhat dated.

Total For (HR) - 129
Total Against (HR) - 132
Undecided - 65
Unknown - 109

Total For (Sen) - 4
Total Against (Sen) - 11
Undecided - 72
Unknown - 13

The Action Plan will consist of:
Phone
Facebook
Twitter
Letters (web or mail)

The plan will target Reps & Senators from 1-3 states at a time for a duration of multiple days. Everyone will have ample time to target each rep/senator in every way possible.

You are welcome to just complete part of each plan(web based), but phone calls as a preliminary contact will be important. If you can't do it, PLEASE pad the easy tweets or FB posts so when we ask a rep or senator to ask Americans how they feel on this issue via Twitter or FB, our numbers will show strong.

I know morale is low right now, but spare those few seconds: I think the last thing we want is to get a vote and whiff. That would be devastating.

Also, always start with Rich's Action Plan, he makes it so easy to complete & targets the most crucial contacts. Feel free to really join in when we swing around to your state so you can make your presence felt more.

Please post any recent or new updates you get on a Rep/Senator's stance here so we can update. I don't know when the last time the SS was updated so even if it's been a while, post that rep/sen's response.

Dennis Ross (R-12 FL) - For
Sandy Adams (R-24 FL) - Undecided
David Vitter (R-LA) - Against
Gerald Connolly (D-11 VA) - For
Jim Webb (D-VA) - Undecided
Mark Warner (D-VA) - Undecided

If you'd like to help, PM me and I will give you access to the google spreadsheet & we can work together on the daily plans.

Post here if you had an update during the current year. If they hint towards For or Against but never say, we will keep them undecided and target them.

Currently we know if more people against HR 2366 than for in the house, yet Rep Barton thinks it would pass?

He must know something that we don't.

The spreadsheet is dated. The positive momentum/hearings have swayed a number of people & it's more of a commonsense bill now, not to mention our voices have been heard. I'm sure a lot of undecideds or unknowns would vote with us at this time. That said, they are the ones who need to know how we feel.

You might want to update this spreadsheet.

Replace

For -- Anthony D. Weiner -- Rep. -- NY -- (D - 09)

with

Unknown -- Robert Turner -- Rep. -- NY -- (R - 09)

It would be nice if we could get an up to date comment from each member of congress, but I know that's not how things work.

He says he has the votes to pass it. That doesn't mean he believes.

I've been bugging my rep (Guinta) - email, phone and in person (with an aid). No answer yet. He really ought to be for it, there aren't a lot of socially far right people around here, and we're getting more and more libertarian types. I'm pretty close to turning into a libertarian myself...

Action Plan for Friday Dec. 16 - Tuesday Dec. 20: Florida & Georgia (aka the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party)

1)Start by calling the rep if possible. Some talking points are here:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57...hread-1031075/

Most importantly, ASK the aides/interns to have their rep post their views on facebook or twitter and to get feedback from people.
"Finally, I'd kindly ask that Rep. "soandso" post their views on HR 2366 via their twitter or FB so they can get feedback from their constituents".

2)Hit up the ez twitter & FB links. I've hit them all already so look for my comments(Daniel King) in addition where I say to look

3)Use the letter for email or doing snail mail. We'll only do snail mail if we need an extra way to get the rep. aware

4)Please post here if you hear back. Either way, we have made our voices heard. We are getting direct responses every day!

That's fine, we won't get a response from a lot, but we should at least be in their ear about it so if it comes to a vote & they are unsure, they know there is support out there from the public.

Calling & asking their aides/interns to have them get feedback from the public is a good shot to get them to post their views.

I've gotten 2 responses(1 confirmed) & 1 lean yes in 1 week. I've only called like 6 or 7 so far.

Thanks, Gator. This is a good plan. I agree that we need to know where everybody stands on the issue. Many have likely not yet formed an opinion.

I will be participating daily. I won't be making phone calls though. I'm not a phone person and cannot articulate well due to cognitive issues from my illness.

I will do the tweeting and facebooking and if necessary, snail mail.

A shift in the numbers: Please change Terri Sewell, D-Alabama, to FOR the bill, as per the snail mail letter I got from her and posted last month. That's one less unknown.

Great. We just need "some" phone calls followed with more tweets & such. You don't have to piss off the aides to let them know their is movement for a cause.

Are congressional offices still open? Had to finish up some work, but going to hammer out the phone calls on Monday, looking forward to some interesting replies

I was always nervous at first, but a lot of these reps would love to talk about online poker. The girls always seem to be interested, as opposed to hearing about the same ol crap

The nice thing is we will be able to roll back to these states in 1-2 months for follow up tweets & whoever wants to call to remind them to make a stance. Plus we should always be able to use these tweets.

I was thinking the same. This is like a priming action for many members. Because many of them have no clue about the issue. Hopefully, our actions will urge them to look into it and make a decision. We can then go back and ask again at some point down the road.

I'm not sure if offices are open during the recess, but I would think/hope so.

Another thought. The twitter response you got from Ross was unique in that most members of Congress won't answer via twitter or facebook. But by using those medium, we can prime them for a phone call or email or snail mail. Most members will only answer the question if it is posed via one of the latter methods of communication.

I'm guessing we could get 10% responses on FB/Twitter, maybe more if we urge them via mail/phone/twitter/FB.

Bono Mack, Ross have responded to our issue via twitter, a bunch of others via FB, but I know other reps regularly respond(or their aides do).

Sometimes hitting up the ones who don't get tons of twitter/FB spam are good ones to target.
