These will take you less than thirty seconds! Thank you for participating.

Let's reach out today to the GOP presidential candidates. Former Gov. Mitt Romney says he is evaluating the issue and is preparing a response, so it makes sense for us to reach out to him to ask him to support our right to play.

While doing so, we ought to reach out to the rest of the field as well. This will benefit us by demonstrating to them the fact that many Americans want this. It will also help us in the 2012 GOP Party Platform fight. We were close to getting the anti-online poker plank removed in 2008. I think we have a great shot at getting this out of the platform in 2012 if we all do our part.
  1. Send prefilled, editable tweets to the GOP presidential candidates: HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.
  2. Send a prefilled tweet promoting today's action plan HERE.
Please reply in this thread with "tweeted", "done", etc. to encourage others to participate. The past 83 actions have generated triple-digit participation, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!

========================

If you wish to do more today, let's reach out more to the House and Senate committees that held the poker hearings last week. We need to make a great final impression, so at minimum let's at least like the pro-poker posts there:
  1. Chair Mary Bono Mack asked for input on this issue on her Facebook wall, so let's provide lots of it. HERE
  2. Rep. Frank Wolf, who testified against our right to play at the Friday House hearing (his testimony), needs to hear from all of us. Here's a FB post where we can post comments. HERE
  3. Continue to reach out to both committees via Facebook with respectful requests for them to support poker. Please choose at least three. Simply like the pro-poker posts and make a short, supportive post of your own. When commenting on preexisting posts, please be sure the post is appropriate for pro-poker comments. [Speed tip: Search for "poker" and "2366" with CTRL-F, then choose "highlight", to identify poker posts quickly.]

No. It means getting another Republican candidate to declare for us will help us with other Republican senators and representatives. It may mean that this issue will be brought up as a job creator or deficit reducer by one of the candidates. It may mean that Obama will be pressured into looking at the issue again.

No. It means that we wish to lay the groundwork now with them. We want to do all we can to minimize anti-poker public statements, educate them on the support our position enjoys, show them that poker supporters are politically active, and improve our outlook on the next GOP party platform. Additionally, many of the candidates are leaders outside of this race, so we can double-dip a bit there as well.

Thanks!

Many anti-gaming types believe the American people wish to ban gaming and that pro-gaming forces are just lobbyists. FoF tells them that repeatedly, and it's clearly reflected in pretty much everything FoF puts out.

Here's an interesting statement typifying that belief by Rep. Wolf:

These citizens advocacy efforts -- often outspent by rates of 20 to 1 -- have held the levy against even further encroachment by the gambling industry into every community in America.
Our efforts directly counter this mindset by showing that there are real people behind this effort. These efforts also serve to provide objective evidence to lawmakers that there are not hordes of anti-gaming types waiting to pounce on anyone who supports the right to play. Lawmakers can check their Twitter feeds and Facebook walls to see not only a lot of pro-poker activity, but little-to-no anti-poker responses. In many cases, this runs directly contrary to the expectations of many elected representatives.
