Letters sent to congress. Not sure why it's taking some people 60 seconds. It took me 4 seconds.

Question; what is the procedure for someone who is not a member of the PPA? Do they have to sign up for the PPA, or can they just go to the take action page, put in their name and address, and fire off a letter?

Excellent. We tried to make it as quick and easy as possible.

Anyone can send the letter. They don't have to be a member, nor do they have to join.

We encourage everyone to send the letter.

Let's all call Congress and respectfully demand our rights. These should be short, friendly calls. These are not debates, so there is no need to worry about preparation. Rather, the goal of the call is simply to let these lawmakers know that their constituents support the right to play.

For the phone numbers of your elected representatives, either click here or visit the PPA Take Action page and scroll down to item #2.

Here are some tips on what to say to the staffer who answers the phone:
  • I am a constituent, voter and a poker enthusiast.
  • (For Representatives) Please support H.R. 2366, a bipartisan bill to license and regulate Internet poker.
  • (For Senators) H.R. 2366 has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. I would like the Senator to support Senate legislation to license and regulate Internet poker.
  • Regulation means strong consumer protections as well as billions of dollars in federal and state revenue.
  • Please support my freedoms and support this bill.
  • Thank you.
  • I would like a response from the Representative/Senator.
After your call, tell PPA how it went, at http://go.theppa.org/callfeedback. Then, please post ITT to encourage others. Thanks!

Recurring actions:

I wrote an all-new letter to President Obama and Congress that everyone can send in under 60 seconds. Let's all send these three letters now, and let's have our friends, family, and everyone else we know do the same.

Let's also continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.). We need lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments:
  • The House Committee on Energy and Commerce Facebook page is here.
  • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
  • The Dept. of Justice's Facebook page is here.
Thanks!

I threatened to send him to Caps Locks Addicts Anonymous.

In all seriousness, it is best not to feed him. He is either trolling or he is severely brain damaged. Just let him be.

Now this mans steady playing all these WSOP events and takes time out to help in the fight. That should be an example to all the others out there who won't get involved and help to even shoot out a few letters a week or hit up some FB pages.

You don't have to be on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to be co-sponsor or HR 2366, correct? I believe this to be the case and if it is why aren't we hitting all rep's facebook pages asking them to be a co-sponsor?

This daily task is great, and the updated letter today is great, so I can get my buddies to do it for 2366 now. Thanks.

Do people have suggestions as to what we should do to encourage the FT deal with unnamed foreign investors. Maybe we should be back on the DoJ asking them to facilitate this deal so that we can get our money back? The FT deal is much more time-sensitive than pressing for 2366 (every day FT doesn't do business is bad) - what can we do for that today?

If this FT deal fails and they go bankrupt, I'm going to bug the DoJ for my in-transit money for a long time to come. If the deal happens and the new FT management makes good on my entire balance, I'll still hate the DoJ, but I won't really be able to fight them for my last cashout. They ought to want this deal to happen, but they might not realize it...

Correct. You can certainly hit up all reps pages asking them to co-sponsor, but that's a lot of pages. The committee members are worth focusing on because they will listen to hearings on, and ultimately vote on, this bill before the rest of congress does.
