I can't see my post on most walls if I look at them without being logged in. My friends can when they are logged in. I can comment on others post most of the time. Sometimes I have to comment several times before the comment will stick. I opened up two new Facebook accounts in hopes I would get one that works. They all do the exact same thing. I think it is the location I log in from and the Facebook owners attempt to police the system using that massive software code without support staff to catch the bugs via complaints.

It looks like we have a good opportunity to reach lawmakers via the conference committee that is resolving differences between the House and Senate on payroll tax relief, unemployment insurance, and Medicare reimbursement legislation. They need to resolve this by the end of February, so the timing is right. They also need funding, which works for us. And, if they don't move, we still benefit by the effort itself, as the members of the conference committee are leaders in the House and Senate.

Members:
  • Senate Republicans: Jon Kyl, Mike Crapo, and John Barrasso
  • Senate Democrats: Max Baucus, Ben Cardin, Jake Reed, and Bob Casey
  • House Republicans: Dave Camp, Fred Upton, Kevin Brady, Greg Walden, Tom Price, Thomas Reed, Renee Ellmers, and Nan Hayworth
  • House Democrats: Sander Levin, Xavier Becerra, Chris Van Hollen, Henry Waxman, and Allyson Schwartz

Done 2/3. The Romney supporters seem a bit agitated by our posts. I say we keep the heat on him.

I also have a feeling that we are either going to see something get done by the end of the month and if not I don't really see anything happening until the lame duck.

This is my feeling as well. Unfortunately, my internal magic 8 ball is telling me it won't be until lame duck. One thing that might off set that a little bit though, the longer it takes to pass legislation, the less legwork that needs to be done to get cards in the air, so the end result might be similar. [/end speculation]

Marco from QJs wrote up a nice story on Mitt Romney's opposition, at http://www.quadjacks.com/2012/02/03/...o-hypocritical

Quote:
Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney says he is against online gaming. This position is not only wrong for online poker, but wrong for Mitt Romney and the United States.

Mitt Romney has stated his position on online gambling, after promising back in October that he would do so before the Nevada caucus this Saturday.....

Possible tweets for these guys (not checked for # of characters);

HR 2366 is a bill with bi partisan support that could help offset the cost of the tax cut extension (demonstrates value)

HR 2366 would license poker as a skilled form of gaming where every game, the winners and losers are always players. There is no “house”. (Make sure they understand this isn't video poker)

Recognize that the future of the #gaming industry-just like the future of retail or entertainment-will be online. (Makes it seem inevitable)

H.R. 2366: Internet Gambling Prohibition, Poker Consumer Protection, and Strengthening UIGEA Act of 2011 (Let's them know the bill does more than just license poker).

Several states are on the verge of full fledged in state online gambling, not just poker. (Gets the conservative right interested).

Then close it with the original; HR 2366 is a bill with bi partisan support that could help offset the cost of the tax cut extension (demonstrates value).

1. I acknowledge the difference but I lump them together anyway - especially in 140 characters or less. If he is president and a law ends up on his desk, he either signs it or vetos it. at that point, 'refuse to support' becomes a pocket veto, hence the similarity.

2. Maybe you weren't, but I was and still do.

Again, I think it's great that you edited the tweets and sent them out. It's better for politicians to receive different tweets [for everyone else: but it's better for them to get the same ones than none at all, so be sure to send one or the other].

And again, that's great. I was just saying that I chose my verbiage carefully to convey a specific message and that it was not a double-negative.

I hope you'll post your future tweet verbiage ITT. I'm always looking for tweets and will definitely appreciate any help you provide. Thanks!

I can confirm that it's tough comming up with new tweets. You put your best stuff out there and then you are expected to still have the goods the next day. It can psychologically break you down.

For today, let's start telling the Payroll Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance, and Medicare Physicians Payment Fix Conference Committee to look at online poker as a possible revenue source.

The committee needs to resolve this by the end of February, so the timing is perfect for us. They need funding, which also works for us. And, if they don't act, we still benefit by the effort itself, as the members of the conference committee are leaders in the House and Senate!

These take just a couple of minutes each, so thanks for participating:
  1. Let's send the Conference Committee members + Sen. Reid & Sen. McConnell tweets urging inclusion of federal online poker legislation: HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.
  2. Let's post and like pro-poker comments on the Facebook walls of Conference Committee members Sen. Baucus and Sen. Crapo HERE and HERE.
  3. Let's tell Mitt Romney what we think of his anti-poker statements (read more here) on his Facebook wall HERE.
  4. Let's send a NEW prefilled tweet promoting today's action plan HERE.
Please reply in this thread with "tweeted", "done", etc. to encourage others to participate. The past 144 actions have generated triple-digit participation, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!
