Now that the 2020 election cycle has started, do we know if any of the 20+ presidential candidates have positions on online poker? I know that it's not considered a major issue, but it always seemed like a good way for them to bring in more tax revenue.

Not trying to turn this into a political thread, but I am sure we can guess the position of one of them and that candidate is the one in the White House.

I suppose people could write the various campaigns and see what they say.

States make more money with state lotteries. They take 50% right off the top and tax "big" winners, which may be a win under $1K.

Casinos, race tracts, and sports betting pay more than online poker.

So whenever legalizing online poker comes up, the politicians quiver their voice and speak of how nasty online poker is, and in the name of geezus, we cannot allow it here.

Meanwhile, the politicians happily accept contributions from all the other gambling operations who do not want competition from online poker.

Most politicians will just poopoo freedom of choice arguments. They just don't believe YOU should make the choice.

Online poker is no longer distinct from online gambling. Always keep that in mind, the fight for online poker is over folks, there is nobody on 'our side' anymore.

I doubt you'll find a candidate willing to take a position on expanding gambling, its a no-win issue

This tweet by Andrew Yang has poker twitter lit up. Perhaps Im reading it wrong, but it sounds like he's a decade too late to the topic, and clearly not up to speed

Maybe we can propose a federal bill that includes an opt-out option for the states. Then everyone will be on board.

Oh wow, this is amazing!

It's what I've been saying forever, and was surprised that no politician thought the same way. Legalizing and regulating online poker nationwide is a win/win/win.

The players win because they have access to more safe games.
The companies win because they have access to more players.
The government wins because it brings in more tax revenue.

at the risk of repeating myself, states' rights. Gambling regulation belongs to them. Them, and the Tribes. And they aren't interested in that

I would argue there are ten that can do just that. It wouldn't be like the old days, but the old days aren't coming back.

Ultimately, nobody cares about the fate of online poker anymore, not even Pokerstars.
