So I'm playing on that site right now..there is no client, just browser.

We're playing NLHE that has blinds of $10/$25. The buyin is $100-$1000. After the flop, the minimum bet is $10! Somebody just posted their blind after sitting down and it was $50??? Minimum raise preflop is $35.

Don't think they have to worry too much about making a lot of money via online poker, lolz

Clearly the guy who created this software doesn't understand poker.

EDIT: There are literally dozens of bot Twitter accounts regarding this company's stock ticker. It's a penny stock that has completely tanked in recent times and these accounts basically seem to be tweets about how some company shorted their stock into tanking even though it's a supposedly profitable company. Seems fishy

DoJ Opinion On Internet Gambling Unlikely To Be Reversed
... December’s legal opinion ... is unlikely to be overturned, according to former DoJ officials.
Why is this unlikely?

Why is this unlikely?
It is unlikely because of two reasons:

1) It is the legal opinion most accepted by most lawyers and, so far, by the highest court to hear the issue; and,

2) Once state governments and business interest start taking steps that rely on this opinion, reversing that opinion would cause direct and serious harm to persons and entities that have real political clout.

I wrote a short piece on the subject, you can find it here: http://jurist.org/hotline/2012/01/pa...e-gambling.php

Former campaign big wig for John Boehner is now part of AGA since early 2011 (and I think coordinating their lobbying efforts). I'm on phone so I haven't had time to dissect this audio, but I think it's worth a listen. Will do later

just listened...nothing too interesting in there, but he just basically says he thinks Congress is receiving the message re: poker. Millions are already doing it, may as well allow US companies & consumer protections. Doesn't know if there is anybody that will step up to the plate to become the next Barney Frank for poker.

Expert: Gambling debt reaches 'alarming' levels in Wisconsin
http://www.postcrescent.com/article/...vels-Wisconsin

Quote:
And some have turned to Internet gambling, a largely unregulated form of betting in which losses can skyrocket in a matter of seconds.

"What we've seen is the use of the Internet as the gambling vehicle," said Cathleen Starck Wille, a nationally certified compulsive gambling therapist at Samaritan Counseling Center in Menasha.

"The Internet is more accessible than driving to the casino and driving to get a scratch-off ticket. People can do it day and night, and often do it without being detected quickly."

Starck Wille said she and other gambling counselors are seeing an increase in the number of clients who gamble online.

"It's much easier to lose money quickly without realizing what you are doing," she said. "And there's more and more sites (to gamble online)."

The plaintiffs say that they uncovered the cheating by sharing information at the online poker forum, twoplustwo.com.
In the complaint, they claim they identified a player who they suspected was a "superuser" who could see their cards, and other unknown players they suspected of cheating.
"Members of the twoplustwo.com forums discovered, among other things, that certain accounts with highly improbable win rates often logged on to UltimateBet right after a similarly suspicious account had logged off. Also, many of the suspicious players simply disappeared, never to return, after booking huge wins at high-stakes games, an extremely unusual pattern of activity. Finally, the high-stakes online poker community is relatively small and many high-stakes players know one another from their hundreds of hours of play together, from discussing poker strategy online, and from meeting at live events, such as the annual World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. However, no one had an information about the real world players behind the suspect UltimateBet accounts," the complaint states.

Anti-tax champion calls for gambling in Texas [Austin American-Statesman]
Grover Norquist, the nation’s most prominent anti-tax crusader, wrote a letter last week to Texas legislators to call for expanded gambling. ...

The blog post concludes with something straight out of the "You Can't Make This Stuff Up" file:

... many fiscal conservatives have turned away from gambling because they do not want to open up a new revenue source so that government will have more money to spend.

I'm officially excited for 2012. It might not mean online poker in 30+ states, but the growing buzz among states will at the very least make it an interesting sweat.

A fair amount of states already legalize internet gambling business for racing and/or lotteries; would that be another clue as to the likelihood of them legalizing internet poker sites?

True, which is most of the reason I think Washington now realizes, they can't sit on their hands anymore on this. They will have to react accordingly, Game Theory ?

The more gossip of more states pursuing this, is great for Federal Legislation, because if it's ever gonna happen they will realize, it has to happen now, before they are way too far behind the curve, and dealing with a much more messy situation. Now is the time to knock it out of the park!
