They were talking about Nevada and California, but does the above mean that someone in, say, Ohio could play in the Nevada California site? That's what it seems like they're saying.

Yes, that's right. It would have be legal in both jurisdictions, and there would probably need to be agreements between all the states that want to share their player pools.

Good number of internet gaming articles released today:

Will Congress hold 'em or fold 'em on Net gambling?
Quote:
Some expect Reid will give it one more shot and try to squeeze online gambling language into a must-pass piece of legislation, similar to what he did in 2010, said Mark Hichar, head of the gaming law group at Boston-based law firm Edwards Wildman.

He’ll get that opportunity when a payroll tax extension debate resurfaces in February, online gambling experts say.

Gov Malloy: State can't stop online gambling

So, basically the Connecticut governor is an idiot. I wish what he said were true.

Quote:
"We're going to have Internet gambling in Massachusetts, in Connecticut, in Rhode Island, in California, in Nevada and Mississippi and Alabama and I could go through all 50 states because the Internet is the Internet. You don't turn off the Internet at any state's borders," Malloy said.

"If it's allowed in any state, it will appear in every state,'' he added.

The ppa posted this article yesterday:

http://www.courant.com/news/politics...,6011802.story

The CT Gov. basically says about internet gaming, "If it's allowed in any state, it will appear in every state,'' and "it's a national decision that has largely already been made.''

It sounds pretty optimistic to me. Do you think he is privy to some information the general public doesn't have or is he just misinformed?

Disagree with ChaosReigns. Gov. Malloy is plugged into much of what's going on in Washington. Plus, like most governors, he needs more revenue for his state.

Bruce Josten, Executive Vice President for Government Affairs and second ranking officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is pushing Congress to legislate on online gambling...

Quote:
5. INTERNET GAMBLING: Josten took the mantle on online gaming, saying that there has been an increased interest in Congress via Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and the gaming industry at large. Further, Josten said the smart thing would be to move forward with legislation so that the proceeds do not flow into other countries.

Poker News interview with R. Bronson:
http://www.pokernews.com/news/2012/0...nson-11780.htm

I haven't heard much but I've never heard this argument(found this an interesting comparison):

Quote:
Do you think intrastate online poker can succeed long term or will it need to move to a federal level?
It can definitely succeed long term. Let's look at lottery. The more people that buy lottery tickets, the bigger the prize. The bigger the prize, more people buy tickets. Some of these states, like Idaho, are constrained by the number of people that they have in the state. So they created Power ball and Megabucks as a way to link states together. I don't believe there will be a federal lottery in our country and I don't believe there will be a federal online poker law in our country. But I do believe that some of the really small states that don't have liquidity will be able to link together to operate.
I used to confidently think that the Feds would hate the Intrastate model, but why haven't (?) they rejected/try to federalize the intrastate lottery then? Or have they? In other words how hard are they gonna play ball with iPoker/(keeping in mind the Politico snippet) how big is H. Reid's interest these days?

Louisiana Food Co. Seizes Opportunity to Diversify Operations, Launches TouchPoker.com Website

Quote:
TouchPoker.com will feature free Texas Hold 'em virtual tables and, until licensing is obtained, is a for-entertainment-only site, legal for all users, including those in the United States.

In response to a December 2011 U.S. Department of Justice opinion (see discussion below), one of LUSI's founders, David Loflin, assigned to LUSI the TouchPoker.com domain name and the software system required to operate an online poker site. Mr. Loflin contributed these assets to the company and received no consideration for them.
