any word on the new online poker bill?
Last night it was reported that a new bill is gonna be fast tracked in. 20% tax on gross for fee based games and 10% for non fee based games. I believe that means cash games and tournaments. Seems high but for
the first five years it's half that. Basically no bad actor clause and its going to be all gambling games and provisions to pool with other states and I can't remember if it included international players.
Standard issue license given to existing casinos and players must be located with in the state to play until compacts are made.
This is all I remember off the top of my head and it might not all be correct so please read with a grain of salt and don't get your hopes up to high. At least not yet.

It's basically what was part of the whole casino bill, but now broken off to its own bill. See my earlier cliffs:

Did I read both of them right? I felt like the first one said interstate traffic would be an option but not in the second link.

You read it wrong. The draft bill has a provision that authorizes the IL Lottery to enter into multi-jurisdictional agreements with other gaming entities, domestic and foreign, for Internet gaming.

This has about as much of a chance of passing as the likelihood that we will see a Cubs Sox World Series this October.

I appreciate Mr. Cullerton's efforts but not necessarily his motivation. The reason for doing this is never because it provides Illinois citizens the right to do what they please. They always say it will raise money and this is the motivation for moving forward. This just enrages ppl and encourages them to fight against the status quo tax and spend agenda that so many ppl (including myself) are sick of.

This should be done because it is the right thing to do and can provide consumer protections not currently available to citizen of our state.

I'm so tired of having to get behind efforts where the motivation for providing us our rights is that it will positively affect the bottom line for state coffers. I really couldn't care less about what financial impact it has for our state. IN fact i agree with those who oppose this move based on it being simply another cash grab, which it is. If the politicians believed this to be revenue neutral, no one would give a damn.

Do it because the gov't is in place to protect the rights and liberties of its people and those they claim to represent. Screw these jackasses who judge ppl who gamble and oppose it on moral levels. Why do they care? If they're so concerned about ppl ruining their lives then spend time getting booze and cigarettes banned. Do they not care that millions of ppl lose their life because of addiction to alcohol and cigarettes? STay the hell out of our business. If you dont wanna gamble, then don't. Simple and plain. Just stop being a pompous ass and try to deny rights and privileges to those that do.

Only Illinois is a greedy enough state to steal insurance benefits from their state retired employees and yet not smart enough to pass a poker bill...

So horse betting online gets passed, poker dead in the water, is it me or do we just need to raise funds and pay someone off under the table. I freaking hate this state with an epic passion and cannot wait to be able to leave it....

Another swing-and-a-miss, per Cardplayer...
A bill that would have approved casino gambling expansion has failed to make it out of the Illinois House spring session.

“I will never, ever sign a gaming expansion absent comprehensive pension reform,” Gov. Quinn said.

A previous version of the bill included language that would have licensed and regulated online gaming, but it has since been removed from the piece of legislation.

Illinois is the fifth largest state in the country with a population of 12.875 million, according to the latest population estimate conducted in July of 2012. There are only seven casinos in the state with poker rooms, 33 poker tables in total, none of which are in Chicago.

To put those numbers in perspective, Pennsylvania has a similar population of 12.763 million with a drastically larger number of poker rooms totaling over 250 poker tables.

Im actually happy the casino bill did not pass. Small small chance they could add poker back in and pass it during the veto session (Starting Oct 25th I think)

Emphasis on small.

P.S. Dont even pay attention to that Quinn quote.

I disagree. Princess Lisa is poised to become Queen of the People's Republic of Madigastan, but Daddy wants some sort of resolution on pensions before she takes titular control of the state. (His pension reform plan was slaughtered in the Senate last week.)

Daddy doesn't want Princess Lisa's fingerprints on pension reform when it goes bad, as it inevitably will. And Gov. Quinn doesn't do ANYTHING until Speaker Madigan tells him what to do.

So Horse Racing (Mainly the Thoroughbred association) is our nemesis. They want Igaming money to go to the track purses. Yes I know that makes no sense and shouldnt matter but it is what it is.

So the Sen President tabled the bill w/o a vote because the 5 state Senators who live in those areas would now oppose. So you need 30 votes, Igaming is not that popular to begin with, and losing those 5 killed the bill.

So how do we fix that WITHOUT giving them money (b/c the casinos will then oppose)????????

Also these are the Senators and Reps in the Horse Track districts if you want to tell them to put Ipoker back into SB1739 during the veto session.

Sen Martin Sandoval
Rep Dan Burke
Rep Liz Hernandez
Rep Silvana Tabares
Sen Kim Lightford
Rep Karen Yarbrough
Rep LaShawn Ford
Sen James Meeks
Rep Will Davis
Rep David Miller
Senator William R. Haine
Representative Daniel V. Beiser
Representative Jay C. Hoffman
Senator Ira I. Silverstein
Representative John D'Amico
Representative Lou Lang
