My guess is 2020 if we're lucky. It's been how many years since Black Friday? We don't even have anything solid. Don't get your hopes up. People will get hopeful early next year and get let down by summer time like always. Move on...

Take it back a few years. Online poker has been a billion dollar industry since what 2003? Over a decade. It's amazing the gov. hasn't sank their teeth into it yet.

Oddly they give no reasons for their prediction of NY in 2016.

California:
Quote:
While significant progress has been made in 2014 with the former main 2 coalitions (San Manuel and Pechanga) having reportedly reached consensus around a joint bill, efforts to pass legislation failed before the August 31 deadline. Several issues remain to be resolved, most notably the controversial “bad actors” language (prohibiting sites like PokerStars from entering) and he participation of horse racing tracks, though we note that meaningful progress was made on both fronts in '14. ... We believe that the likely entrance of PokerStars into the NJ online gaming market (which is well-respected from a regulatory perspective) in late '14 / early '15 and resulting positive impact [on the market] ... should bode well for its chances of being able to operate in the CA market. ... We don't see the horse tracks as a major share winner so don't see why they wouldn't be allowed in. We now assume that a bill will ultimately pass in 2015, with the market opening in 2016.
Illinois:
Quote:
We are pushing out our assumptions of online expansion in IL following channel checks with key legislators in the state. While online gaming remains on the radar in the near-term, key lawmakers believe the state needs to come to a decision on the proposed on-ground expansion before it considers legalizing online gaming. ... We now assume that online legislation is passed in 2016, with the market opening in 2017.
Pennsylvania:
Quote:
Based on commentary from operators and legislators, it appears likely that the state will ultimately take a more guarded approach by only legalizing poker initially, and potentially adding full casino games at a later point in time. We now assume that the PA market opens in 2017 as a poker-only market ...

'the bill' died when the session ended. It will be up to someone else to introduce a new bill in the new session.

As the CA tribes want online poker, there will be a bill or two introduced for the next legislative session.

Unfortunately thy can't come to an agreement and nothing will happen, again. I was very optimistic earlier in the year but as long as Stars wants in I don't see it happening.

Saw this link via Pokerscout, suggests that there is still a possibility this year.

Online Poker Bill Still in the Works in California

Is this news piece legit? I though Lou Correa's term was finished, don't understand how he can still be pushing for a bill to pass. Any chance this still happens this year?

The legislature has adjourned. There are no pending bills at this time. Talk is a new bill will be readied for the next session in the next couple of weeks, but it won't be the bill mentioned nor will it come from Correa.

That story looks like it was cobbled together with a lot of year-old information

^^ Interesting. Big wall of text, too long to read. Were some of the issues that held previous bills back resolved? Some form of bad actor clause or no? Horse racing allowed in?

Also, looks like a bad actors clause, and that clause is not severable
