They will begin again on the bill in January of 2014. So HOPEFULLY by the end of next year, we will see some sort of legalization passed in CA! HOPING!

Governor has said for sure he will sign a bill. The tribes have a bill and Rod Wright ( dem. Senator) has a bill. They need to get parties together and hash out any differences. Tribes are more interested in compacting with Europe instead of Nevada because Europe has the expertise and tribes want to do is right the first time. 2014 is the year it will happen.

If we combine with Europe, the player pool will be quite large. I expect much much larger than what Nevada and NJ have right now. The only issue and what I am torn on is..will Europe players play on a US site? or are they talking about linking up with Europe and allowing us to play on Euro sites while the US facing portion processes the payments..

^^^ please who cares you have lots of legal rights if offered above board in CA. Taxes etc. TBD. The day all that happens though out of the box is when the Replications take over the legislator and governor of CA and declare no income tax in CA. It isn't going to happen. CA can support plenty of poker .. NJ is putting up 1K players in a week or two. CA can put up 3K players in a week or two and dominate the US market.

I just can't see all the issues with Euro play, (server locations, rake, taxes) just to name the top couple of items. Lets get real, pass a bill, set a time limit (same as NJ to go live). Write the regs and get cards in the air. I hope we can get a hearing in Jan, and out of committee ... then things are rolling if it isn't brought up we know its wait to after the election.

Saw video through now, more good news if the big tribes can pull along the small tribes, the tracks (Santa Anita in Sou Cal really) bow out and I think CA legislation is right there. Brown will sign, just has to happen early it would seem to keep it out of late session goofy budget etc.

Then it is time to sweat the regs .. seems like a good time for the "ONE TIME NOW". Also a good test of Sheldon Adelson power in states. Money talks in CA Politics but Republicans are only small players.

Can he rally nanny state reps with conservative republicans to block a big tribal gaming push. Once CA passes, I can't see Fed action really happening at least to block some part of IGaming.

Sorry my mistake, CA will not be combining with EU player pool anytime in several years, if ever.

All current sites have state located player pools and geolocation. I can't see California having anything else. It can be tough to keep other states out if you don't geo locate. Regulating with Euro sites France,Spain,Italy is out of question as they are trying to pool at some point.

England, Germany maybe, but CA will want the servers in California .. and that is not going to work with the existing sites. Finally, in CA bills they have tough bad actor clauses.

What the video was really talking about is not allowing EU players in the pool, but having EU companies as partners with the tribes to set up software and poker implementations. Not having Ultimate gaming or other NV casinos, regulating/running CA sites. Nevada and the tribes in CA do not have good relations and are in heavy competition for the gaming public.

Finally, I think he talks about tribal/tribal compacts, but that law is beyond me.

Remember the tribes want to have the major interest in the games, no tracks and only limited Card clubs because they must. Letting EU gaming companies run the show is not in the cards.

Combining with the European player pool would be pretty terrible for CA players, so I hope you're right Dmyers.

all the euro donks are broke thats why. why would we ever in a trillion years share our biggest fish pool(california) with the all the euro pros? they been crushing there donks for years and now we should just let them come crush ours too?

Primarily due to allowing a massive influx of grinders with relatively little casual players to compensate. It's hard to quantify the exact proportion of skilled player to casual player that a US state or nationwide system would have, but whatever it is, the ratio would only be diluted into a less favorable one by the inclusion of ROW.

Victor was talking about partnering for software/consulting reasons. Why partner with nevada operators for software when they don't have tons of exp, that's why its a good decision to partner with euro sites that have already been in the game for awhile.Victor has emphasized that cali does not want to pool players. No need to in his opinion

This has nothing to do with online poker in CA. If it ever comes to pass, it would allow people on tribal gaming facilities to pool across the country - but people would have to be on tribal land to play.
