Since Sheldon Adelson is lobbying against Internet Poker, I will no longer play at the Venetian poker room. I suggest if you care about the issue, that you also boycott the room.

+1. I'm not a Vegas regular, but played at the Venetian when I visited. No more of that.

Here is more info.

Well, considering that Venetian has by far the highest concentration of ex-online players of any poker room in Vegas post-Black Friday, I'm not surprised that Adelson is against legalizing online poker.

Umm.... I read the RJ article and nowhere did it say he was LOBBYING against online poker. Its says he told a lobbying group he is opposed to it....... There is a difference between those two things.

Making a quotable statement that he is opposed to it is the same as lobbying against it.

A difference without meaning much, he needs to come out with a sincere statement supporting explicit legalization before I go into any of his properties again.

Thing is though, Gary Loveman probably campaigns for online poker now while having supported DOJ's efforts to shut it down in the first place in order for Caesars to profit... IMHO none of them is better or worse than one another... had Adelson struck up a partnership with Partypoker before MGM did then I'm sure he'd be all for it right now... but Sands seems locked out of partnering major poker sites so he's decided to go against online gaming altogether esp. considering his poker room is where a ton of Black Friday refugees have chosen to play.

I play at Venetian a lot, no more. This is disgraceful. Adelson is more likely upset that other US casino companies are better positioned than he is. This is the same self serving BS that brought us the UIGEA.

it's obvious that he's too old to figure out how to work the 'series of tubes'...
and his midday naps cut into him positioning himself into makin' even more billions/yr,
but don't pull the lame-ass 'moral' card.

*it's not like a poker boycott will even make a dent... but out of sheer principal.

So basically what's happening is a bunch of good players don't want to play at Venetian anymore?

Glad to see so many are boycotting any Sands casinos. I too will never set foot in one until Mr. Adelson changes his stance.

For what? I'm still going to play there. I'm all for supporting a cause you believe in, but this isn't my cause.

But if there are now going to be fewer competent players there, the increased fish ratio makes it just that much more appealing.

Players flock to Venetian because they have the most active tables... if enough players boycott then Venetian might lose their drawing power and everyone who plays there will suffer because fish like "action" rooms not one that's half-empty.

So, no, it doesn't benefit you just because a bunch of 2p2 guys stop playing there.

lol....half-empty.

I think you are wrong. I think most people that play at Venetian won't care what the owner thinks of online poker.

And people like Venetian for many reasons, not just "action" from grinders.

imho, if you're a poker player who believes people should have the freedom to play, this pertains to you as well... not everyone has access to a casino.

and IRT a fish:reg ratio.... we're talking about live poker right?

Have fun sitting around waiting for games to start. I'm sure when they finally do, your earn rate at 4-8 will increase significantly.

Edit: And BTW, if you think that 2+2 and the PPA only have tough players as members, you are delusional. A large number of recreational gamblers belong to both, and if word gets out to them somehow....

Typical, you are a poker player aren't you? if yes, then it should concern you.

It's not like you would be running out of options in vegas anyways.

I play a lot of live poker, but I'm not outraged by a business owner trying to diminish his competition. I guess I just find that standard. Also, I don't really have strong feelings towards online poker. I think I represent the vast majority of people who play poker in Las Vegas casinos.

I like the Venetian. It's my favorite place to play, and probably will be even more so when 2+2ers stop going.

Venetian mostly spreads low limit games. Again, think about the type of 2p2 member who plays low limit games and you won't be happy to have them gone from the room.
