Have any politicians hinted that ipoker may be included or is this just speculation at this point?

It's speculation. It's logical speculation since "UIGEA Strengthening" is a good fit for. A cybersecurity bill, but AFAIK no congresscritter has hinted at an iPoker attachment.

The bill was introduced by Bono-Mack in the House, intriguing...

Do any of the states allow for player to player transfers in their bills? Or is that not going to be allowed once regulation is here?

It's likely to vary. Some bills have expressly allowed it. Some don't mention it.

Online poker in MN would be perfect to pay for the stadium. We should spam all those schlubs in St. Paul to get it done.

So people are applying for licenses in Nevada. I assume this license application includes a thorough analysis of the software and the company applying. What happens after the license applications are approved? Shuffle up and deal?

Yes. In the state of Nevada only though, for the time being. And the providers have to build their systems in the state of Nevada and get them inspected and approved by the regulators.

It's anyone's guess, but by the end of the year is probably about right.

Would it be possible to make a new sticky thread thats similar to this one?

My thought:

Sticky
Locked with only moderated updates
Clear sections with updates for each state looking into legislation
Only post:

New developments
New informative articles
Expected Timeline of milestones (obviously will be an informed guess most of the time, and should be made known so, but its still good to get an idea, even if its in "best case, worst case" format)

Stickies are more for long-term info than fluid issues.

I guess it would just be nice to have a place that we could get quick updates on progression on these issues without having to sipher through a ton of new posts.

I try to keep as up to date with the current state legislation enviroment but only get a chance (for numerous reasons that I will omit to keep the post short) 1-2 times a week and practically every thread in here gets off topic fairly quick making it hard to find the pertinant information.

Hence this thread. Click on the arrow next to the thread title in the forum list to start at the first new post since you last looked at the thread.

Alternatively, I can put a FAQ in the OP of this thread if you or someone else wants to write one and keep it updated.

But I want someone else to do the work for me

In all seriousness, I am not nearly knowledgable in legislation nor do I have the time to devote to keeping it completely up to date and accurate. But I would be more than happy to help out as I can, such as getting an initial FAQ started and/or keeping part of it updated.

If you (or someone else) is interested in doing this idea PM me and I will help as I can in a collaborative effort.

Why don't you go ahead and write the initial FAQ so we will at least have that. Then anyone can PM me an update as things develop.

I think it is a good idea to keep a cliffs in the OP, if somebody is willing/able to keep it up to date.

The only thing I could really find where there were comments from officials regarding Ohio, etc. was this link http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnat...d-to-ohio.html

Here's another one: http://www.vendingtimes.com/ME2/dirm...012BB414BB597F

Does not have direct quotes from Ohio officials, but mentions that Ohio is one of 10 states looking at online poker.

It also does mention a letter (with a link to the letter in the article) sent to Congress on March 2 from the National Conference of State Legislatures stating the organization's desire for the U.S. Congress to avoid legalizing online gambling nationwide, in order to leave the matter up to individual states.

Oh, nice find CountingMyOuts.

The letter is found here, and I'd be interested in how people feel about it. I understand their reasoning, but I don't know that it benefits us all?

NYS took the first step to legalize gambling. Hopefully if this gets passed threw it might mean poker at some point

Thought this article had a good summary of where each state stands for people who don't want to go digging through each thread for information.

It's way too soon to even ask that question. No state except for Nevada has passed iPoker legislation at the moment.

I eagerly clicked on the link, hoping to find a good summary, similar to Card Player's excellent tracking of license filings in Nevada.

Unfortunately, the article was tepid, rehashed stuff and somewhat inaccurate and woefully incomplete. (e.g. no mention of prospects in Florida, Delaware, or Iowa, Illinois, Connecticut, et cetera.)

Too bad, this link lacks real info or coverage. you should read this thread instead, I guess. .... or the individual threads about State efforts.

(Even so, it is a marked improvement over the "expert" drivel Card Player used to publish as legal analysis.)
