Just a quick non-technical statement...
Why are the politicians are so blind on the potential tax income of legalizing online poker? The porn industry in the Valley is legal even if it "offends" many in the country, why all this opposition for poker if it was just a matter of "morality"? There's something I am missing...
And at the same time the Illinois Lottery funds the State big time cutting a ridiculous juice for itself...

What industry does the porn industry take business away from? That's the missing part of the equation.

Do you honestly think Republicans think that tax breaks for outsourcing benefit the country as a whole or that the american people want those tax breaks in place? I don't believe that for a second. I think they're in the back pocket of businesses who want those tax breaks. Also, I think they know it will be a political win for a Dem controlled congress to pass that law. Both are strong enough reasons for them to do harm to the US economy and the american worker. Just the way the government works these days. And I don't think the Dems are any better. They've had plenty of time to try to remove those tax breaks. They're only pulling that out of their bag of tricks because they think it might save them from losing control.

There are businesses that do not want to see internet gambling come to pass. As long as those businesses spend enough money they will have representatives on their side.
