U need at least 50buy-ins for holdem.
Plo at least 100 it always helps to be overrolled.. a 900$ roll is not enough

If you have a steady job outside of poker and know for certain you're a winner at 1/2 (and aren't lying to yourself...) then I would just play. Would not rule out playing a 50bb stack and adjusting my buy in incrementally as the roll goes up/down.

If you're playing for a living then definitely 50 buy ins bare minimum, preferably 100 buy ins. Less than that, unless you're living out of your car and have little to no expenses... and a solid plan on what you will do if things start going south, then I'd get a job until I meet these requirements.
