How important is it to study outside of actually playing? I see a lot of people posting in the blogsections about study hours.
I never study out of game. I don’t have the time and interest in tweaking my game outside the hours I spent on the tables.
I play profitable between 50NL and 200NL.

if you're not studying then you are just profitable for now and/or living on the happy side of variance

You should really spend the time to analyse your performance / hand histories. There are definitely spots where you can improve. If you're gaining or losing value, or being exploited in any spot
(even if the % seems minimal to you), those are areas to look into. I would suggest getting together with some friends now and then to discuss certain hands or spots. This is why Poker Coaching is such a big market now; it clearly works to study!

Study till your winrate is crushing 6-7bb/100+ in mtts... for cash id aim for beating 25-50 nl at 10-12bb/100 minimum or 5bb/100 in 500 nl before i'd slow down studying
For me a mtt player
I grind for 5-10k in hands in a day
i tag 30-70 hands to run through hrc [1 minute/hand push/fold spot]
i tag 20-50 postflop hands [run through odin/pio 2-5 mins/hand]..... that's how much i made 50k+ last month.
