Hey guys.. there is a big jackpot in my local casino.. it's for the game called Ultimate Texas Holdem.. if you guys never heard of it it goes like this..
Up to 7 players play vs the bank..
Everbody (including the house) gets a random hand...players have to pay a bet (minimum 5 euros maximum 100 euros), an ante (equal to bet) and if they want an additional bonus called trips (bad quotes) and of course the jackpot (2,5 euros)
Before the flop the player can bet 3x or 4x of the blind.. after the flop 2x and on the river 1x or fold..
The house needs a pair (including the 5 community cards) to qualify.. or else you won't get paid the ante.. so basically the game is 1-2% -ev (without the bonus bet.. with it way more)

Now let's come to the jackpot..:

This is the current jackpot.. you have to flop the mentioned jackpots to win additional money. So if you flop a straight flush or royal flush in diamonds you get the big jackpot and ao forth..
Can some math genius give me the calculation if this is +ev?

Given taxes what are you actually winning if you hit? You can google odds of hitting "hand name" in five card draw and do the multiplying to figure out but you know it is negative ev at any expected value as the casino is pushing the bet.

What do you mean the casino is pushing the bet?
The game in itself is negative ev yes.. but is the jackpot also? The casino itself doesn't earn in the jackpot.. it earns in the hands you play.. which is rougly 2% -ev.. if you play small can you counter that -ev with the jackpot is the question.

I honestly don't know what you are talking about.. jackpot is paid by the players for the players. And it still is +EV at some point..

Maybe in your jurisdiction for table games but do you honestly believe slot jackpots are paid out of a separate fund created by betting the maximum and the house doesn't get a cut? Poker promotions are separate but certainly where I know the regulations table games are not.

How to calculate theoretical ev. Find number of all possible five card hands. Multiply that number by 2.5. This is total cost. Find number of each paying hand. Multiply each by appropriate payoff. Add all together. Compare. For actual ev to player recognize there is in most areas a third player; the tax man. You need to on any payout that will generate a report to the taxing authority take the amount your payout will be reduced to reflect actual payback.
