Good story on the Reid TH:

Harry Reid Addresses Online Poker in Twitter “Town Hall”

PPA media campaign brings online poker to forefront of online discussion.

Quote:
US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hosted his first Twitter “Town Hall” Meeting today ....
Quote:
Just before the town hall meeting started, a quick glance at the tweets included the hashtag showed an overwhelming majority of the questions were seeking a response from Senator Reid regarding the economic benefits that regulating online poker would provide.

Rich Muny, Vice President of Player Relations for the Poker Players Alliance (PPA), and many dedicated supporters have launched an aggressive social media campaign...
Quote:
The hard work done by the PPA and its members to encourage poker players to accept Senator Reid’s invitation paid off. Reid addressed the issue of online poker by pledging his support. He cautioned that he is “opposed to online gaming [except for] online poker” but emphasized, “online poker would create jobs: and lots of jobs.”

IMO this is evidence of the great work of the poker community. Sometimes all we have to do is tip the scales just a bit in our favor by demonstrating support for what we're doing.

Here's an AP story that quotes it: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011...-ld-writethru/

Quote:
<snip> The bulk of the questions appeared to come from participants who want Congress to legalize online poker.

Reid, a former Nevada state gambling regulator, unsuccessfully pushed a bill to legalize online poker at the end of last year. The Department of Justice indicted in April executives and payment processors of online poker's three biggest companies _ PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker.

Reid reiterated his support for online poker during the town hall, but stopped short of promising to usher a bill through the Senate this year.
"Online poker would create jobs and lots of jobs," he said.

Sounds like he's clearly on our side but nothing is imminent. Would have been more optimistic if he had clarified his "online poker will get done" statement.

I think the jobs line is complete bs, but am glad to see that meme continuing to get traction.

I was thinking it might be a good idea to create a thread or sticky of only the Daily Action Plans we've had going back for several weeks now. This would give new participants an easy way to find more actions they can take if they wish, at least ones that are still relevant. These DAP's are located throughout this thread, but it's obviously pretty cumbersome to sort through it and find them all. Just an idea.

If we're looking for more DAP ideas, we could always go back and vote up HR2366 on POPVOX since we're getting a lot of new participants. I'm not sure it's more valuable than the stuff we've been doing, but it's pretty quick and easy.
