For me, personally, I strongly disagree.

Take away the right to an abortion, and my life barely changes. Take away the right to own guns, and my life barely changes. Take away the right to play online poker (which they essentially did with UIGEA and Black Friday) and I experience the biggest upheaval of my life.

This is not to say that poker is the only issue on which I vote; I am also concerned with foreign policy, climate change, etc. However, there are several "mainstream" issues which mean far less to me and, I suspect, to many of the people who read this forum than poker does.

I'm sure he does. Most people that back him have plenty of time to go on social media because they don't have jobs.

Most of the people I know who back Sanders not only have jobs, but have high-paying ones.

Hi, was just checking out the cash traffic reports over at PokerScout the other day, and they had a link to this article listed on the side - the title makes it sound like Sen. Rubio's against online poker, but in the article it seems like he might be for it?

From Poker News Daily

Presidential Candidate Marco Rubio Confirms Anti-Online Gaming Stance in SC Town Hall

Just thought I'd post it, since it was tucked into such a little corner of the internet, but was interesting to hear

Highly unlikely to be true.

Closing this thread. This latest discussion is appropriate for the Politics forum, not here.

After I read the description of the Donald Trump poker star book on the Kindle, I did a search and realized that Trump may actually be the online poker messiah that we all have been waiting for. I'm surprised this hasn't even been discussed here.

Here are some links that show that Trump is actually the antithesis of Adelson.

http://www.uspoker.com/blog/trump-on...e-topic/12102/

"The online gaming industry may not want to immediately dismiss Trump’s candidacy.

Trump is a strong proponent of legalized online gaming. “It has to happen because many other countries are doing it and like usual the U.S. is just missing out,” Trump told Forbes in 2011.

At the time, Donald Trump and Trump Entertainment were in the planning stages of a joint online gaming venture. New York hedge-fund manager Marc Lasry was also named as a partner.

The company formed through this partnership appears to be Poker Ventures LLC. This company incorporated in Nevada and Delaware in 2012. It was incorporated in New Jersey in July 2013 between the time online gaming was legalized in New Jersey and when it went live."

Here are some other links that show that we all probably should be supporting Trump.

Granted, online poker would probably seem small to him once he takes office. Afterall, there are things like the general economy, health car, terrorism, Putin, North Korea and so on that are arguably bigger issues. But at least, the poker community would have an ally in the highest office.

BTW, the Canadian Daniel Negreanu hates Donald Trump. Here is proof:

On the other hand, Phil "the Donald Trump of Poker" Hellmuth is a Trump supporter.

Another thing. Trump get owned in the casino business to the likes of Wynn and Adelson. His need to get back at them might be motivation enough to make him easy to nudge towards making online poker a priority.

Just my 2 cents.

GOP VP nominee IN Gov. Mike Pence is pretty much the nut low when it comes to online poker:

You can't trust that he'll have the same position from 5 months ago, much less 5 years ago.

If he was so big on getting an online gaming venture going in 2012 and 2013, where is it? What happened?

Sheldon Adelson pledged funding to Trump in excess of $100 million. And, as Trump said, billionaires donate to politicians for access. One wonders what Adelson expects for his nine-figure investment.

Trump then hired Mike Abboud into a key campaign role. His uncle is Adelson’s lead lobbyist, Las Vegas Sands VP of Government Affairs Andy Abboud. Andy Abboud is best known to the poker community for his maniacal waving of his smartphone on the House floor, exclaiming that people would be able to play poker from anywhere, as if that would be a bad thing. What did not seem to bother him was the fact that the Venetian sports betting app can similarly be used to place wagers from anywhere in Nevada.

I cannot say what a Trump presidency would mean for poker, but it is concerning that so many donors are fleeing while Adelson emerges as primary funder of Trump/Pence.

Well here we go, Trump's making a run at this thing. Im not saying I voted for him but if he's going to win, I wish the fact that he was a casino owner would help our online poker situation in the US. Of course, so is sheldon adelson

But from what I've read here, it looks like he and pence will be horrible for online poker

Imo, Trump not necessarily, but Pence definitely yes is horrible for online poker. Question is how much can/will Pence influence not only Trump but Senate and House members as well as state legislatures on this issue over the next 4 years if and when it comes up as an issue on their plates. Social conservatives may want to unite in "you rub my back, I rub yours" kind of politics. Hope I am wrong, just trying to be a realist.

This is what I wrote for this week's PPA update:

Sheldon Adelson provided substantial funding to the Trump campaign. On the other hand, Trump has strong business relationships with many in the casino industry. Trump also has an ambitious agenda that will require all of his political capital, leaving very little to expend on shutting down state-licensed poker websites.

Be assured PPA will monitor the situation for any potential anti-poker actions.

Rich, by any chance do you know or at least have any input to this: I noticed that Adelson is running ads on tv for his PA casino repeatedly. I have never seen anything like it nor recall last time if ever Adelson was doing tv advertising for this property. Could this mean he is desperate to bringing in new business for his brick and mortar casino there now or does it mean something else in the benign sense? What are your thoughts?
