If I remember correctly, the biggest online lobbying group would be moveon.org, and they can get a couple million signatures on stuff. However they're all on the Left, and already involved in politics. Meaning we know which way they'll vote- only issue is whether they turn up or not which is kind of a moot point. With poker however, we come from all different corners of the political spectrum so they're going to want to woo us. There are some undecideds / independents among us. Also, young impressionable people. They'll realize that some people will be voting (and identifying with political parties) on this issue alone, so the petition could be a significant factor.

What's most important to me is your support for my rights. Please: 1) exempt poker from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and 2) license and regulate internet poker in the US. 3) Respect the rights of law-abiding Americans who love to play this great game of skill.
Does anyone else get tilted from the word, "and", appearing before the "2)" instead of before the "3)"?

I do. Seems it should either be "and" or "2"...not both.

I was just looking for a PPA official looking group on Facebook and I didn't really see it. Now, maybe I overlooked it, but if there isn't one it's certainly something that should be done. Many of us have several hundred friends who aren't involved in poker at all, but could easily see something like the petition on our pages and decide to sign it.

anyone who signs this, i highly recommend making a throwaway email address. here's some subject lines from some of the recent junk i've received to my PPA throwaway email alias:

GOLDEN CROWN CASINO PROMOTION
RE:GREAT BONUS
New collection of Ed med discounts
Online Casino
PUMP YOUR strongest LADY_xftg
IDLE PROMISES TABLETS._nimi
SHOW PROOF OF YOUR LOVE TODAY!_cpfy
The most convenient way to buy drugs!
Helping small poles grow_eeae
Save over 50% (Pills against impotence 611)

So does the PPA sell email addresses to spammers, or you just store them all in some insecure database somewhere?

Neither. I can't speak to how spammers got your email address, but it wasn't sold by PPA

The email address that got passed around was named:

pokerplayersalliance @ (mydomain)

So I highly doubt it was random. May be worth mentioning to your developers or whoever maintains that database for you. No harm intended btw.

I'm getting this out to as many people as I can. I'm tempted to send a mass email to my company's distribution list, but that would probably get me fired
