I'm really waiting for Wynn to ink another deal. I can't believe he went from working with the best site to nobody ahead of all this progress, especially in NV

he saw Limitless and decided to pay several private software designers to build a platform greatly resembling PS but without the horrible debilitating withdrawals.

Does Churchill Downs make this acquisition unless they think there's a very good chance online poker will make a comeback?

Shouldn't be long before Wynn, LVS, PNG, Tropicana, and Pinnacle move now. Racetracks were supposed to slow down this process.

DoJ Revised Opinion Raises Concerns of Native Tribes

Quote:
Fleming seems to also favor a state run initiative for poker (since that is most likely) but his main concern is that poker should be treated differently from other forms of gambling and that poker player’s rights are respected with any form of regulation. Fleming noted that poker only accounts for 1% of tribal gambling revenue so he didn’t seem overly concerned how much tribes got from the gambling. In fact it’s uncertain really why Fleming was at the meeting in the first place, given his comments.

Boy, they sure got this one wrong. Fleming supports federal legislation, not a state-run initiative. And his point wasn't that it didn't matter how little tribes might get from i-poker since poker only accounts for 1% of tribal gaming revenues. His point was that only 1% of tribal gaming revenues could possibly be at risk from expansion of i-poker, while at the same time because poker is social game it will drive additional foot traffic to the tribal casinos.

The World Series of Poker is the marquis event on any poker player’s calendar. The name and rights are currently owned by Harrah’s Entertainment who is not doing so well financially. In order to help aid some of their financial woes, it has been suggested that they sell the naming and branding rights to the WSOP for a large sum of money.

I can't envision Caesar's selling WSOP. The future value of that brand name will be huge if online poker is coming.

Nit: It tilts me when I have to read an article that can't even get the name of the company right. Harrah's Entertainment --> Caesar's Entertainment

"We have this messy circumstance where there's this gray market or black market online poker business going on," he said in assessing the need for the state to provide some regulatory protection for Iowans

"I think it's something worth exploring. I think there's a lot of potential side tracks for this bill to go down. But I think it probably makes sense for us to try to regulate this industry that's already going on," he said.
