For the type of tournament you're describing, I would recommend betting 5-6x in the early levels with a strong value-heavy range. Pretty much just play good cards and bet as big as you can get away with, assuming people are calling way too wide with junk.
It's also viable to raise smaller with a wide range just to see a lot of flops, then play better than your opponents post flop, but the large raise strategy is easiest to implement if you're new to these games.
In the later stages of the tournament you'll want to shift to a small raise strategy. Then use small bets to steal pots, and gain information about your opponents' hands. A lot of opponents at these stakes play very straight-forward, raising their best hands, calling their mediocre ones and folding when they miss the flop.
Just watch out for contrary tendencies. You'll run into some players that are overly trappy, or that play passive with super strong hands just because they convince themselves they could be beat. There are also some aggro maniacs.
At the $400 level you'll have some better players in the field, but also some very bad ones. So you'll have to make reads and adjust as appropriate based on the table you're on.
Good luck 😃
