Yea .. I got a confirmation e-mail after filing. I'm sure everyone did. It is automated.

Just settle back in. It'll be at least a year before you need to do anything else.

Skallagrim any updates on the the SSN/ITIN number issue? I have emailed and called GCG and seems to be some different answers. I filed for the ITIN already but not sure how quickly that will come back. Was even told to put in all one digit but that seemed like it wouldnt be a good idea but will save for worse case scenario. Just want to make sure I get my app in by Nov 1st

this limit seems unnecessary and arbitrarily restrictive.

I take that limit as their intention to get this show on the road and start sending checks ASAP. Can't start doing that before you know how much in claims you have. An optimist might say they want to get these checks out in this tax year. God knows I have little faith in the wheels of justice moving swiftly, but I would not be amazed to see a check by Christmas.

I called the IRS office today that deals with ITIN's to follow up on my application and there is some government shutdown so they are closed? GCG still doesnt have an answer

Basically all IRS offices--especially any that deal with the public--are closed. But taxes are still due on October 15th for those on extension....

Anyone have a guess (or information) as to how this shutdown will trickle down to slowing things in the remission process? Not that it has been particularly fast to begin with.

Pokerfuse is reporting that US FTP Affiliates can now claim their poker balances

* I see PX has already posted the info in the NVG thread

Already added to the Remissions Sticky.

This part very interesting, imo:

Quote:
The filing process for Affiliates will not delay the processing or payment of other Petitions for Remission.
If accurate, means that there is plenty of money to pay everyone back since they don't have to wait to process the remissions to affiliates before paying the remissions to non-affiliates.

Saw that non-us without SSN can now file with a valid passport but I did start the process to get the ITIN. Should I just cancel that and petition without it?

Don't see why not.

Good too see that the DOJ/GCG is being responsive to the concerns raised by affected poker players and the PPA. Just yesterday we sent them this letter and this evening they made their announcement. Great stuff!

Obviously, the issues addressed by GCG/DOJ were concerns expressed by many petitioners. It's nice to know that they are responsive, and are making the necessary efforts to properly repay player balances. From their response, I extrapolate a quick repayment to undisputed claims, imo.

But it was my phone call on Sept 17 to a specialist that blew the whole affiliate status issue wide open. YES, I win.

The point of my post was not to give credit solely to the PPA; although praise is always welcome Many poker players, PX and KKG included, took matters into their own hands to get their questions answered. We have had thousands of players contact the PPA since the remission process started and we have dutifully responded to them the best we can, while at the same time sharing issues we could not answer with the DOJ. The PPA has maintained an open line of communication with the top-brass at DOJ AFMLS since the PS settlement. If you recall, we were very active in helping the DOJ understand why 100 percent of account balances should be the basis for remission. There is little question our advocacy work on behalf of the players has been paying off. And, we are especially thankful to the 2+2 posters (and thousands of PPA members who contacted us directly) who have helped us identify problems with the remission process and shape our arguements.

Proud to Play,

Observing the social media blitz, it does seem you're working hard at taking credit for this turn of events. I'm not saying or even suggesting that credit isn't deserved, but don't sprain your arm patting yourself on the back.

I think the players, by and large, know that the PPA is doing what they can for the players thru this whole remissions process, and it is appreciated. We would all be worse off if the PPA wasn't there.

I'm sure the kudos were coming on their own

Makes sense to cancel if your just going to do taxes with your own country. Not sure what the numbers are for but if your just played some in the US and mostly overseas its not like the US would be taxing you anyway for your whole balance. They said SSN was just for checking debt anyways

PPA does deserve some credit and if it makes more people aware of the PPA then its fine imo
